I use a light meter to set canopy distance and then the hps equation to work out moles for par. This is enough accuracy unless you specifically want to work with a par meter and produce led equations as most light data on all other lights is highly accurate and available.

I have the hydrofarm one it seems to work as intended. I like it.
I use the apogee. It was a group buy.
A fellow rui member checked the same led fixture I have with his hydrofam par meter and got similar readings to the apogee.

There are others who use the lux meters and convert to PAR using a conversion factor.
50,000 lux is around 700 par.
