Chunky here, I just moved out in the woods and I am rebuilding a nice log home. will be growing in and out. I came across these. Normally I get an old HID and take the 100 watt ballast out and go to the electrical shop and just swop out ballast for a 400 or 600 watt ($45 to 55) HPS no need for capacitor. If these lights are 400 w screw in MH then dam....20 bucks for 39000 lumens. Feedback. check this light out. http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/203664...toreId=10051&N=5yc1v&R=203664478#.UVL9x9DD-M8

Would say life hours = 8 months before you suffer a degradation w/growing... 4k Kelvin isn't optimal for growing.. would require a bulb change too.

its a metal halide with a socket base, is it not. It says 400 watts 3900lumans, it nmay not be optimal but we both know (if you have done enough resurch as you have), HPS from start to finnish, takes 7 to 12 days longer to harvest BNUT yields increase. BTW, remember the 65Watt cfls , they have remade them and they are Half the size. 8 months is fine for something that cheep. I am a contractor and but replacement ballasts, I pay $45 for a 400 and 55 for a 600watt HPS or MH.
