pH5.1 in soil dose mean your screwed, what else can i say!
i am using soil from local hydro store its a top mix gold lable popular in uk, i repotted them and waterd and the ph come out at 5.1 and the same today wen repottin the last one, so i guess i will av to run ph 7 through on next water, thanx man
Gold label top mix, definatly not gold label coco?
shud of sed i added some epson salts and then regulated the ph to 6.5 then waterd and it come out at 5.1, though i am doin a soil water test at the min, according to foxfarm this will give u a more accurate reading !! Courtesy of help from here
Why so much epsom salts dude, id not bother unless you got a ppm meter and can ppm your water to between 30/40 ppm mag/epsom salts. If you knew calcium levels were at about 100ppm then this would futher be cool. Overall with the water and ferts and lime in the soil we aim to hit a cal/mag ratio of 3:1 on average with the previous cal/mag ppm's.
Probably dont screw with cal/mag unless your sure you need one or the other and even then buying a bottle of either canna monno mag or cal for seperate supplementation or just the liquid cal/mag supplement most other fert companies sell is best recomended. Up the cal or mag levels too much and you'll lock the other out.
Your soil (if its definatly not the coco version) is more than pH buffered and limed (which is also adding cal/mag to the plants also) so i would just stop checking its pH. Maybe its a bit strong in ferts giving it a lower than usual pH but other than that i would just lightly flush and never check pH again. Any futher problems would cause me to change my soil company but i see no peoblem with this one.
Have you tried just adding plain water for two or three weeks and seen if you get good growth yet? Epsom salts would be the last thing id be adding to a limed organic soil with guano and other such things
Just for asking you have described bad runoff pH but has the plant itself got any problems from being in this soil yet or is it not to bothered and growing fine?
I cannot tell you what the problem is with perfectly normal marijuana grade soil, probably isnt one, recalibrate your meter or just dont check it again and grow on. Ive told you what cal/mag levels for weed are, ive seen your soils fine for growing weed and talked a little about why you would need epsom salts and why id just not bother with runoff readings for a while till ive simply potted up a plant and given it straight water for three weeks to see if there actually was a problem in the first place.
