LST with smart/fabric pots?

Can you use smart pots to LST? Just wondering if they are strong enough to hold down a stem if i hole punched some holes around the edge.

Or am i better off sticking with solid pots and buckets?

youll be fine. those pots are quite strong. I did it in my last grow, however i did find it was a bit easier with traditional pots

They will deform a little bit, specially if you are trying to bend the main top, but will work.

Strip end to expose wire. Poke thru fabric and bend it over.

I use a hole punch to make holes around the top of the pot, and thread pipe cleaners to LST. Works great and is super cheap.

I use safety pins to hold the rubberized wire

As mentioned above I use a whole punch bout a inch or so from the top of the pot.

You can tie branches to base of main stem! Just not too tight as stem can thicken quickly. I do this alot. Works good!!

Watched a neat little vid on YouTube the other night on just this topic , the guy had bought ( I can’t remeber the name lol ) but basically a hole punch that put like a metal ring doughnut on the pot he done four 1 opposit the other then ran gardening wire through and round thus creating a nice anchoring point for attaching to , easy work and A dam good idea

Aw man sounds like a hole punch that rivets a hole guard onto it. Ill see if i can find one of these thanks

Hi Guys,
For what it's worth...I use barbless fishing hooks through the fabric attached to bonsai wire. Learning manifold training. Haven't tried it with big branches yet.

I use a 16 penny nail and poke holes as needed. Nail goes through with no problem. Get green plant wire, make a hook on one end and hook the branch feed through the hole.
