Mad Scientist Nutrient Switchup

Well I'm always trying to make some changes to improve the quality and so here it goes. I've changed things up from most of Advanced Nutrients(just too expensive for me), to using Alpaca Fertilizer, starting off the first two weeks in bloom still with Piranha & Tarantula. I'm starting tonight by adding, Grandma's Unsulphered Molasses, Humboldt County's Gravity and Crystal Burst(instead of Big Bud). I have also been using Roots Excelurator which works great in EZCloners as well as waterings.

Let me know what you guys think or those that have used any of these combinations in the past.

I was thinking of switching in the future to using either General Hydroponics or House & Garden. So we'll see from here how things turn out and I'll definitely be posting pictures of the final product.

:leaf:Peace:leaf:

Yeah I mean I've heard pretty good things about House&Garden, but for the same price as the amount of nutes I need H&G will last me about 3 crops, where as GH will last me about 6 so definitely leaning towards them.

Why are you adding molasses to hydroponics?
it does nothing as the root cannot break down complex carbs and even then it wouldn't do anything as the digestive system is just to simplified.
Molasses is only used in soil plants. And thats mostly to feed the soil it self so the plant can then feed off that.
And if your not in hydro. Then good on you ;) keep up the good work champ.
take it very easy on the gravity remember less is better.

*unless you know what your doing, the sugars/complex carbs/dex isnt for the roots, its for the millions of tiny microbes living synergistically around the rhizosphere (english plz) lol :)
---but yea, most hydro users dont really need molass in their feeds unless theres enough microbiology to breakdown those sugar(s) ---(hence) the byproduct is converted/broken down, free energy for your plants :)

this is quite true. it is very hard to establish a micro herd when growing in hydro. ph up and ph down tend to kill these little organisms. soil or coco give the beneficials enough buffering space so they do not have as much exposure to these chemicals which kill them.
as far as the gh line goes, i am loving the reaction i get from the plants about 36-48hrs after feeding them. also the price tag does not hurt either and you can use any additives which you like. i use the gh micro and bloom as a base and add the fox farm soluble tri pack (open sesame, beastie blooms, and cha ching) among other products like silica blast and cal mag from botanicare, bud candy from AN and hygrozyme. i am thinking of adding some of Humboldt's own products (snow storm, gravity and purple max, maybe bush master). i see that AN has come out with their own knock off of gh called jungle juice. its supposed to be the exact same thing only a few bucks cheaper. might give it a try.

Sutra and Canna, sorry I didn't specify my medium. Yes I am in soil. I have definitely applied the less is more as time goes on and I basically spend most of my time with my plants. Thanks for the advice!

So what's your method for adding molasses, anything other than mixing it with the water? I'm only going to be using a small amount because they are going into plants that are in 25 Gallon Smart-Pots, so whatever amounts I add in the plants are going to get 2 gallons each.

Well I added Gravity, Crystal Burst and Molasses tonight so well see how the ladies respond tomorrow. Any suggestions on staking them up without using wood/bamboo because bugs like wood.

Just a FYI-You stated you were using Gravity and Crystal Burst instead of big bud? Big bud is suppose to be used at the beginning of flower from weeks 2 thru 4 and Gravity is a finishing additive that you would want to add very late in flower, to harden the buds up mainly.....I would not suggest you replace Big Bud with gravity...not sure about the Crystal Burst as its new and have not tried that product.

Gravity worked best with Snow Storm Ultra IMHO.......using SSU all the way through flower and then use both Gravity and SSU together at the end of flower.....just a suggestion.

Good luck with your new nutrients!

Peace!

Yeah I meant more so that I was trying out Crystal Burst over Big Bud which I know Big Bud is great, but didn't start using Gravity til the 4th n 5th week.
