Update. The mother never got over being rootbound, after the transplant and never looked like it could get enough food. Every leave that got big would start to die. The bud however turned out great, just not as dense as most of it's clones. My last 2 clones from her had the same looking buds. The mother's total was over 3 ounces. The next 2 after her produce 30+ grams each. I'm now waiting for my last tall one (24") to finish. From now on, I will be getting 3 or 4 in with 2 to 3 weeks vegging, but tied down. I end up with a bush 10" to 14" tall and 2+ feet across. Now the panel can sit 10" off the canopy.

I have finally gotten everything the same height now. The light is between 8" and 10" above the canopy. And the canopy is only 10" deep. I only have about 4'x5' filled at the moment and will be finishing my last group of less than 4. Having 4 ready girls every 2 weeks is becoming the hardest part right now. Now hitting an average of 1 ounce or more per plant. This one has 2 weeks left and is pack with dense buds.

Update, this run of 3 plants was 103 grams. This puts me just under a gram a watt as an average. And I still have some room for improvement. I will be adding dolomite lime to the soil to help the magnesium drain. I have also been foliage feeding.

Great stuff nge!

I am glad i found your thread :)
I got a mag plus2 as well, and was wondering if you could give me some advice...

I want to try a grow in a 4x4 tent with an attempt at creating 8 trees in a horizontal/verticle style.
2 of the corner pods on my mag went out shortly after i got it. First i was thinking to switch round with the middle 2 cos a hid would be hanging in the middle where the blank leds would be, but then i saw what u done with the way u optimising to get the spacings right for the area and it got me thinking...
I been thinking about doing a similar array with my veg area with 10w little tiny integrated leds so that each plant has its own individual light that can be raised or lowered individually on a yoyo or something similar.
So i am wondering now what the feasibility of combining that idea with using 8 of my 10 remaining functioning mag pods. The plan in general would be to veg them under their individual integrated 10watters proly only running at 5w, then pot them up in the 4x4 continuing to veg under the 8 individual mag pods each positioned directly above the middle of each plant, leaving the middle of the tent vacant for the hid to hang.
Veg them as high as possible leaving room for stretch and gap for as high as the lights will go in the 2metre high tent, only turning on the hid at the flip...
There would be a big fan lying on the floor which would blow upwards for when the hid is on and a 250mm extraction vent directly in the middle of the roof of the tent running 24/7.

Do you think this is a good idea??

I figured there will be much air movement so they will not overheat hanging in open air, hmmm, they might even get a bit of a sway on :) and by doing away with the little fans and one third of the lights in the original unit would that not be less but more efficient power draw? This is the main thing i reall need help with as i dont have a clue about electronics.

One other thing, have you ever experienced any detrimental effect on the plants from having them too low? It sounds very close what you are doing? How close did you hang them in their original casing?

Have you called for a replacement power supply? Scott had it to my door in 2 days. Otherwise pull out the bad power supply and take it to Fry's and get a replacement. You are losing 50 watts of light. I wouldn't have the lights hanging in the open. 3 four foot T-8 fixtures with 4 in each would be the easiest. Each with it's own cord. The light hasn't shown any sign of harming the plants even as close as 5". When in the original case I kept it 18" to 20" off the canopy.

Thanks for the advice nge. I havnt had any luck in getting the manufacturer to send me replacement parts. I had assumed it would be the lights that need replacing, but i take it it is the power supplies that supply the lights that stopped working and the lights are fine, ok. So each light has its own individual power supply, and i just need to find out what the specifics of the power supply is and go down to a local electronics shop and buy two of them :) cheers
What is it about hanging them mid air from yoyos that your not into?
I would have thought maybe that way would be more preferable for my particular set up for ease of assembly, as i'm only planning on using 8 of the 12 pods in a kind of a square array, and as the trees may be differing heights, being able to raise them individually may be advantageous...
Good to know you can go super close! Thanks again
