Well, there is not much to say. I'd like to start of by saying I ordered from Attitude Seeds! I purchased two Barneys Farm Vanilla Kush seeds and received a free seed of Mazhar crossed with Great White Shark. This grow however I'll only be doing one plant of Vanilla Kush.
If this grow is successful, I will build a bigger box and probably throw in a HID. We'll see.
Lets get down to details, shall we?
I placed the Vanilla Kush in a small saucer of tap water for approximately 24 hours then placed the seed in a moist paper towel for another 24 hours. Within that time the tap root starting to break free so I decided to plant it in to the soil approximately a half inch deep or maybe little less. For germination I am using a small pot for now and then I'll be transplanting in to a 2.5 gallon pot for the rest of the duration when it becomes a big girl. I'll attempt some Low Stress Training and see how that goes as well.
I am using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil along with Schultz Perlite. In the small pot is approximately 80% FFOF and 20% Perlite. Eventually I will also be using House & Garden's Soil A & B nutrients but not for quite awhile. Water used is purified using a Brita filter and was left out for approximately 2 hours to allow some chlorine to dissipate if any. Afterwards I took the below measurements.
I will be using 6x 26w 6500k CFLs that have an output of 1600~ lumens. I am debating if I should use only 4 or use all 6 because of temperature issues as the box seems to get up to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and ideally I'd like it to be 80 or less. I am using a 68CFM exhaust fan and an unknown CFM intake fan(it is probably 100+ CFM) as seen in the picture below which gives it a very nice breeze in that box which is why I am confused on the high temps. For germination I'll only be using 3 for now.
I'd also like to add that this journal is open for all to comment, make suggestions, or criticize. Again, this is my very first grow and am hoping for the best.
