.....pipedream.....as far as the symetrical issue....there is no better way to get better symetry than through bondage imho........the cabinet canopy pic above is a good example....the plants form an almost perfect square!......all from manipulation.

well, today is day 32 from sprout......i figure right around 42-49 total......6-7 weeks......my goal is 4-5 zips, so i have to make sure she is big enough.....will transplant into a 7 gal smartie with 40% super soil, in about five days......then let her grow some roots before the flip.......i have never grown a.o.s. before so the yeild is kind of an unknown, but i am setting the bar high.....she does have incredible vigor, so as soon as she starts to blast off in her smartie, we will throw the switch.

Amazing thread nugbuckets! Would rep you if I could :D. After my plants show sex I'm going to try your main lining technique on them  I wonder how much longer they'll take... Also, how late can you pinch to still get 4 tops like Budologist's vortex does? Are those four all at junction with the main stem like a four way intersection? Or is it the main two from the branch and then he topped those again early to get to split into 4...? Thanks for all the info

he waited a little longer to train his, but should work fine, just a bit more stretched out......from the looks of it, he did it pretty much the same....

Great thread nugbuckets, thanks for this.

I do have a question though. It seems like your plants finish out around 30" tall, which I understand is because you have space limitations. So does main-lining stunt vertical growth or do yours just not get taller because you flip them flower? If you were to main-line a plant into 8 colas and then put it outside in say June. Would that plant still grow as tall as a not main-lined plant?

Basically I'm wondering if I could get 8 dense donkeys that are the length of my arm.

I think this will work well with my small scrog, cfl = low light , this canopy control is awesome.
this works excellent for limited space grows......but it really shines in a movable smart pot outside......see where we are going with this?....if concealment is a priority, who wouldn't want a 3 foot, self supported plant that has a flat canopy, no larf, and a monster yield? i don't have to worry about the concealment part so much, but i am very much into efficiency......energy in/energy out......the way i look at it...if you can grow a small statured plant, that yeilds like a tree.....wouldn't you grow the small plant?.....so much less energy/resources/overhead in......remember, this is all about putting in the work in the beginning of the grow, to reap the benifits at the end.

a main-lined plant will be quite a bit shorter than one left alone......if you want to have a longer veg time, to get longer donkeys, you can......but this is where the strain becomes uber important.....it works best with a strain that exibits "single-cola dominance"......and resits secondary branching..........

....for an example, i plan to run an 8 plant outdo.....i will crack the seeds on the last day of may (will be using clones also).......build them and veg them for 7 weeks in the greenie, transplant to 20 gal smarties, dep them for three weeks to get them started, from 23rd of july to aug 14, then set them outside......they will be two feet tall, at the time i start the dep.....16 heads, and finish around 40 inches on Oct 1st, yeilding 12 zips each......

....always helpful to have a game-plan, and expectations..........being full ready to "bob and weave", making adjustments along the way.....i am thinking about starting an outdo journal, but only if the interest is there......anyone interested?

......i like to work the eqation backwards........i have x number of patients, so i need x ammount of finished product.....but am legally allowed only eight plants, so each plant needs to yield x amount.......now if i need each plant to yield say 12 zips, i need each plant to have around 16 donkeys each......etc........now, i want my plants as small and strong structurally as possible, without compromising too much on yield......and on it goes......i am still figuring this all out, but each year has been getting better and better, and more and more efficient, and with that, more enjoyable.......i have some physical limitations from my Lyme disease, so some of this comes from that.......esp. the heavy lifting, and dealing with large plants etc........also, for me the process itself is my medicine......the bonzai work is a meditation for me, and time spent with my ladies is pure therapy for my soul.
