Dude I had a house built once, it was more economical than repairing the old one.....demolished the old one and didn't pull a permit, new permits all pulled and filed, house built, inspection passed and county assesed.
Get the bill later its for two houses....one at a rental income tax rate.
Clerk goes way beyond her pay grade and says I will have to pay it, and is all uppity about it it was fuggin nasty.
I say I have a moral dilemma paying taxes on imaginary property....especially since I have assesment in hand and it describes said property to a tee....only one home on it.
Took my complaint to the boss at the county seat, she walks me across the street to the court house and they make a new bill in the new amount of her newly figured amount.
Took the bill back to the clerk the next day. She was amazed at her ignorance.
reminds me of a story
my buddy had a house trailer on some property he wanted gone. he was tired of paying extra taxes on a property that was worthless. he went to the courthouse and they told him he had to pull a permit to tear it down. It was only like 35 bucks. He took the paperwork home but never filled it out....cheap bastard
He went ahead and tore the trailer down and went back in to the courthouse and told them the trailer was gone.
They were like...where is your permit?
He told them he didn't need one because the wind blew it over. Nothing they could do. LOL
Property taxes dropped, got a refund on the previous six months and didn't have to pay for a permit.
that fucker WON!
he also just got them to drop the tax appraisal on another property of his by 40%
He bought a property at sheriffs auction earlier this year for less than ten grand.
the tax appraisal came in @ around 80k. he argued that since he paid less than ten that is only what it was worth.
