i also wanted to mention that the lights are 2700k. is this the right kind of light for seedlings, i get confused about what light for what stage

Color Temperature (CT) - Color temperature, which is measured in Kelvin, indicates whether a lamp has a warm, midrange or cool color appearance. "Warm" light sources have a low color temperature (2000-3000K) and feature more light in the red/orange/yellow range. Light with a higher color temperature (>5000K) features more blue light and is referred to as "cool."
Over 5000k for veg under 3000k for flower.

do you think that these lights will work for the next week or so. i am just putting the seeds into the soil tonight. i got the light CT mixed up.

Yes I do. That's what I have set up for clones and sprouts. I use 3-42w for the sprouts and one on clones till the show roots. then boost up to 3. after 2-3 weeks they go under 2-100w cfls. sometimes I change out the 42w 2700k with 26w 6500k and add the light bar to the 2-100w. Then they move to the 400w mh or out side depending on the time of year.

dude you got a fuckin bedroom to work with!!! throw a 400w HPS in there. very good for indoors

T5 grows are excellent choice for seedling stage though. you can get them at any hydroponics store

If or when you get a HID don't waste your time with a 400w go for the 600w. 4' tube sets run under 15.00 each. 100w cfl and fixture run around 50.00. Hid between 250.00 and 400.00. Without good lighting your grow will suffer in a bad way.

yeah. i know. i am looking into getting anything i can that is better than what i have. here is my next question...how long after the seeds are put into the soil should you start seeing sprouts?

Anywhere from 24hr to a week or so. What the hell we all had to start somewhere. on the bright side every grow will be better then the last.

subed just for funzies haha figure if i had any questions this might answer some of em im gonna be building a box and using cfl so i have been quite the time with the whole lighting issue but id have to agree the more light the better i mean think there naturally a outdoor plant they get there light from the sun which is way brighter then a cfl so sure u can use minimal lighting and still get results or u can use a assload of lights and get better results alsong as its not getting to hot and you have good circulation, ur humidity, ph and all that jazz youll be fine

i got two bulbs tonight that are 6500K. i was going to add those to the tote. i already have 2 2700K's in there. would it be ok to have 2 of each in a tote that is 2ftX1.5ftX1.5ft? would i still need more light?

but stumps wouldnt it be moe effecent to just have the 6500 in and then replace then with the 27 when he flowers or do u think having both of them in there might be benificial to have both spectrums?

It would be best to have all 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower. All I said was it wouldn't hurt them. When chrissi goes to flower I would use all 2700k. I use my 100w cfl's 6500k as side light when I flower inside. Biggest worry For me is heat in my flower room from the cfl's.

how many lights do you have and how bigs the area im thinking of doing a 3x3x2 box for two plants and 7-9 23 watt cfls in it but i didnt think they heated up that much
