Me and Lil' Bud's DTW/Coco Grow>Chronic Thunder, Cotton Candy, Blueberry and Ice Bomb

Good Afternoon All,
I am seeing growth like there should be. I fired up the flower room light (600w MH) and cycled the pump setup for a few times today and all is well. I have to wait till after this weekend before I make the move. That should have them even a bit more even in growth. I think 2 weeks under a 600w MH will do them good, then flip em. My plants got a bit too tall on my first grow, so I hope to keep em a bit shorter this round.

I just couldn't help myself and threw them under the big light. Should get things motivated a bit more. Couple of weeks and its bud time.

Evening All,
I am seeing a lot of good veg growth now. I have the nutes up at 680ppm. I like the root excelurator by H&G, the roots on the little stunted Chronic Thunder finally caught up to the container and when I transplanted it back to a 1 gallon (second time for this plant to do so..lol) I am going to veg them for another week or so then flip, I will top the Ice Bomb and the other Cotton Candy at the end of the week. The Critical Sensi Star is rocking in just pure canna coco with no perlite and just ph'd tap water.
I have learned a shit load in the last 2 months, I had better see a drastic improvement in round three or my Lil' Bud is gonna feed me to the fishes.
Here are a few shots of the setup. The other 6 or so sprouts are going outside in a couple of weeks <freebies.

I transplanted 3 of them into their final 3 gallon pots. The 4th is still a few days from transplant, but gaining quick. Caught Lil' Bud checking things out and he thinks we should bud in a week or so as well.
The growth has been much quicker as of late, I have the nutes up to 700ppm at 65*F. Here are a few shots of the progress. The last pic is the little stunted Chronic Thunder that is final making a comeback...lol

From what I have read, it does. I still add a wee bit of Cal-Mag, maybe 60ppm to my res. But on my seedlings, from now on, just distilled until they get a couple of solid nodes, then ph'd tap water ( I let it set for 4 days before I use it).

The first pics look like a mad scientists lab. Looks pretty thought out. I have some Ice Bomb myself and I was thinkin bout growing that next, Let me know how that works out for you. Overall you seem to have a nice yielding setup going there. Wish I had the space and time for what you're doing. Great job man!

Your plants are looking super healthy mate, and your setup is very slick. I like the idea of having it automated and might go for drippers on my next grow.

I agree. I have three blue spectrum bulbs and one red in my T5. The root production is always good.

Thank You All Kindly for dropping by and checking it out. I humbly appreciate the positive words, it has been a slow start, but I have things going pretty smooth at the moment. I will transplant the last one( Chronic Thunder) into a 3 gal. pot tomorrow afternoon and then next Sunday, I will more than likely flip them. Will have some pics tomorrow.

Morning Stoners,
Man, I hate it when you plan to hit the water at 6:00am sharp, means leaving here at 5:00 and your fishing partner bails with a busted vehicle. Oh well, so instead of waiting till this evening to transplant the Chronic Thunder, I did it this morning instead of hitting the surf. They are just a bit away from the trellis, as soon as they touch it, I will flower them. That should be in about a week.
My Next round will be all Critical Sensi Star, then I am going for a blueberry and a purple something on the next seed order.

Here is a couple of shots of the Ladies, they are exploding in undergrowth and are definitely ready to make some flowers. I think a few more days and I will be forced to flower, as I don't want to overfill the space like I did last grow. I am at 800ppm 5.8 ph at 64-66*F and hand feeding them a round of carbo load on their last feeding of the night, I do not put carbo load in the res, it can get a bit icky, I guess from the chiller lines and/or the temp, not sure, I just like my res clean and as free from funk as I can keep it. My whole res, including pumps and air stones get thoroughly cleaned at each change out.
Looking forward to some 12/12 action, just want the little one to have a couple of more days to catch up in height. The CSS will be a mother plant, I am going to try my hand a cloning again in a few weeks.

What's the point of the chiller and the air stones in the res? I thought the whole point of DTW was that you DIDN'T need a chiller, or have to worry about constantly checking pH, etc... I'm on my second bloom atm, in ChowMix DTW Drip, and have seen no problems due to root pathogens with res temps in the mid-upper 70's and room temps in the upper 80's low 90's. In fact even when my plants were at their worst I pulled a couple out of the pots and the roots were as healthy and as white as can be!
Definitely looks like a nice setup, and well thought out, I just am wondering about the benefit of the chiller/air pumps. I've also read pumping air into the res can fuck with the pH over time, even with just salts and RO water.
Keep up the good work, and remember that what goes around comes around. I'm sure your grower friend will return the favor handsomely for that beautiful Critical you gave him!

You hear this, you hear that... ya just have to go with your gut.
Personally, I use air stones in my large res, but I feed on a timer. I am concerned that without aeration or circulation to create a turbulence; think water flowing down a river cascading over rocks which creates CHI) nutes would stagnate, or just go flat (like beer)
My new aeration system provides both. See pic

I try to keep things mixed well with a T after the pump. One line to the drippers, another as a return to the res with a valve to control flow to the drippers. Seems to keep things well mixed, and with a 45 second on, 2-4 hour off, I figure it stays mixed and even provides DO during watering.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe the pH swings people talk about with constant aeration of the reservoir is due to the formation of carbonates and oxides when the air being pumped in reacts with the nutrients. This may or may not be a problem as long as you are managing the pH of your res. Obviously organics totally throws this out the window because you're probably brewing some sort of microbial soup.
I've gone the last 4 weeks without a res change (I changed it today, but simply because I thought it would be a good idea, not because of any problem.); I've simply adding fresh solution as it nears the pump. The only negative I've noticed so far is Floralicious+ leaves a nasty smell after a day, and a gunk on the bottom half of the res after a week or so. No idea if this occurs with an aerated/recirculating/waterfall res. The plants don't seem to mind.
