medusa tray block? diy option

So making a dtw system I like the medusa system except it looks to me like it could block easy with a leaf as it only has 1 21.5cm hole under the pot? With not a big lip to catch water if problems come and I grow in a scrog so once in it's in made me think...



So what if I got 8 of these to sit my airports in. They are rubber too so would make good seal on connectors


And then stand it on either a bucket bottom with the top chopped off leaving a 4inch bucket with a flat base to stand the bucket on. Then drill holes like the medusa and plumb a 21.5 in the base and the side.



Cost wise
medusa is £10.95 a tray
Rubber tub £4 wood £5 and work.

Both need tank connector 21.5mm at 60 pence each

So there identical in price so it comes down to what would be best logically and practically.
Both in my eyes would work the same just 1 looks shop bought other home made ...
Mods I need to make on the medusa I'd also be doing on the tubs .

Tubs have higher lip and hold more water in an accident and airpots dont touch the base

Medusa has drain off channels that wudnt matter to an airpot much.. though I could throw a mesh over that under airpot to stop any leaves going down the channels.....


Each ones con has a pro I'm undecided.
Mrs said just grab the full system...where as I'd build to save

Realisticly it's not a hydro like mod it's a drainage system so 1 isnt gona be more efficient than another really along as water is dumped and it's not blocked

First I heard of the medusa system, but recently seen a few other types that do the same thing.
Wouldn't mind some myself. Not sure how it would work in a tent though because the tubes would have to go up and down through one of the lower cable ports. Not sure if they would just overflow instead. That's with the brain outside the tent.

Nah dont be scared to chop a hole in the tent they are strong i hwve sticthed a door on the other side as it didjt have any doors on the back
