If you buy from Home depot, then at least you can return for a refund if the bulb doesn't fit.... If you buy online then you gotta ship that shit back to them and that's more money out of your pocket.
All those 175 watt bulbs you see online basically do the same thing. Some are conversion bulbs and we will leave them out of this, but the rest of them will produce the same amount of lumens give or take, and that's all that matters

wow, home depot does sell bulbs! and for 25$!! on the front of my 175 metal halide package it said it was mogul and fit in a m57 ballast so that info WAS relevant, thanks again guys who helped out, the replacement has been taking 2 weeks and i want my plants inside!!! my indoor grow setup will be posted in my journal link tommoro!

ok so if your running a cheap setup and have the slightest bit of do-it-yourself willpower inside of you then go to home depot and grab 1 7$ reflector worklight with clamp and socket and plug, and buy a 300 watt output megabulb (in the cfl/HID bulb section) + (uses 67 watts of power and fits into normal lightbulb bases) which only costs 15$, and + tax it costs you 25$ TOTAL. Now you have an instant, shipment free 300 watt addition to your grow room, might come in handy if making a large setup or even the cheapest one possible lol. the reflector comes with a clamp on the back which can be used to aim at undergrowth or also tie a cord around the clamp and you can hang it downward. pretty cool for just 25$ and no wait
