As usual, I skipped most of the posts. Here's what I would like to see. Michael Phelps just needs to NOT conform to what is expected of him and get mad as hell and simply say, "You know what. I occassionally get high and it's REALLY NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS. And, when you can take a bong hit like I can and then go swim the extra mile, talk to me about how unhealthy it is.....til then just STFU."
As someone who has run 7-10 miles a day, pumped iron for 3 hours on average daily....and then in addition to that, climbed some mountains AFTER my workouts, I'm going to without reservation say, "Who the hell do you think you are assesing me Jack?" HA.......KMA.

I had to do it. I went back a couple of pages and read a few posts.
Ricky, I am in NO way an advocate for young people, partiuclarly those in HS and younger smoking pot. It is in my personal opinion that at this age, while a mind is developing, that young people should NOT be experimenting with anything other than FOCUSING on being organzied and figuring out where they need to be in life....which entails explicit planning. I did smoke pot in HS and I will be the first to tell you that it made me LAZY. When I should have been making all A honor roll, I was not.....simply for my "class participation" grades. Now, that being said.....once a person becomes an adult, they should have that choice to make one way or another as to whether or not they will be participants. I know all too many "adults" who never really "grow up." Please note also that I particularly HATED drinking. I never could follow the concept of bonging beer.....at 15, I simply viewed my peers as IDIOTS for doing so, puking, and then going back for more. To say that pot is a gateway drug can be analyzed to death, as it is so often done. I say it's just ridiculous to blame ever having partaken of marijuana use for becoming an "addict" of so many other drugs.....just RIDICULOUS. I could use numerous examples as to how this is just NOT SO. I personally have a family member who tried it a few times, decided they did not particularly care for it. This said person just so happened to also be a severe ashthmatic...and is in the medicial books. After numerous years of taking "legalized" prescription drugs....e.g. steroids, "she" was subjected time and time again to "the jitters." Being she had to also give herself shots on a daily basis, she spent the majority of her life feeling "shaken up." Drinking became her outlet as a teenager.......forget the weed, she had no use for it whatsoever. She also toyed with cocaine on a couple of occasssions and found this to be a drug not appealing to her. As time passed, she went on to become a nurse. This same person would only on a VERY rare occassion smoke a cigarette. I never could understand those part-time smokers. Some swear they only smoke 1 a day...only when they drink, or some even 10 a day and no more. How it is they don't become the typical nicotine habit is beyond me, yet...it happens. So many after numerous years of this pattern find it so simple to just put them down forever. Again, I don't get it....yet again, it DOES happen all the time.
Life passed some very trying experiences for my sister, as she found herself again and again in ICU...experienced the life after death experience even. Yes, she actually "scientifically died."
I don't know what day she had her first experience with heroin...yet, being a nurse made her capability of obtaining diladas not incredibly difficult. Needless to say, she lost her job because of this. She also lost her life eventually. Her need to bring down her constant jitters from being so overly medicated with LEGAL drugs, in the end......robbed her of life. I WISH my sister had opted for a strain of LEGALIZED marijuana that would have subsided those ill side-effects! Likely, she never did smoke anything worthy of smoking.
My point here is that I find such relief in smoking pot (because of some of my own medical conditions) If there should be ANY drug referred to as the "gateway drug".....it should quite obviously be ALCOHOL. Just take a look at how common it is for the HS student to frequent a week-end party....only to come home drunk and that is if they EVEN COME HOME ALIVE. Yet parents see this as "the norm." Typically, they think back and say to themselves.....well, I was young once, so I "get it." Well, I DON'T.
I would SO much PREFER (if I didn't have a choice) that my child had been caught doing the dirty deed of smoking weed than to find out my son/daughter got in the car with a drunk driver or worse yet...was the drunk driver and responsible for killing himself and others.
As parents, you can not be there every second holding your child's hand and guiding them through every misfortunate surrounding, yet you CAN advise them and that begins at an early age. Kids are getting into some wicked drugs .....drugs made from all sorts of insane household products that are literally KILLING them. I can't even keep up with them.
I am so sickened by every last time I see some "expert" educating the general society about the "hideous dangers" of MJ. They are NOT properly informing those who know little or anything about this very natural HERB that is not mixed with chemicals and has in my opinion, obviously been put on this earth for a reason.

for the person earlier that stated, "I'd like to see you put your picture up as your avatar." Look, we live in a country whereas it is legal in very few states. There are people (including past/prior presidents) who have openly admitted to having tried MJ. Were they jailed for their admission? Nope. I think it so sad that people are being criminalized and having a stigma attatched to them that just isn't right. Until people begin to stand up and say OPENLY that they are not opposed to its legalization, all will continue to live in an unneccesary fear.
I respect Montel Williams for saying on his daytime talk show....."Yes, I go home every night and smoke a joint. The government provided several for so many years for its medicinal purposes, so WTH are they to tell me I can't do the same." I assure you Montel has access to some really HEAVY drugs. He opts for something natural. If the day should come that he is ever criminalized for it, I'll be the FIRST person to post my picture as my avatar........AND I will be noted as well on national news."

Yes that's really me.

I wouldn't do that to some poor unsuspecting person, it's just not cool.

Check my profile, I added a pic of me in the Kali Mist hat I bought while I was there. Sorry it's so small but I had to crop out some other innocent stoners.

I LOVE it. (haven't even looked into the profile) Wouldn't you just know that you are so "typically" what a pothead looks like? <<kidding>>
I recently read an article where this old woman was pictured smoking pot (for arthritis, I think) I mailed it to my 75 year old mother (who btw, years ago turned in her 13 year old son for having a dime bag--gotta roll my eyes on that one)
She e-mailed me back saying, "Doesn't that old woman just look 'evil' smoking that joint?"---She was being facetious mind you.
Poor old lady is facing criminal charges now.

While I was in Amsterdam I met one of the 8 original federal marijuana patients. Can not for the life of me remember her name and she must have been one of the "anonymous" ones cause I tried looking her name up a while ago and she's not one of the ones listed. She was a senior citizen (for some reason I'm thinking in her 80s) and cool as the day is long! She was in a wheelchair and had an entourage which included this ex-military special forces type dude who took care of her. He was cool as hell too. Total toker! He told me she was LEGALLY bringing 5 LBS of primo Amsterdam weed back with her to the US. Needless to say I was green with envy. :weed:

I have info on her somewhere I'll have to dig it out

OH BTW the dude that took that pic in my avatar was one of about 5 dudes from Canada who all had these Canadian Olympic Team jackets that said "Canadian Smoking Team" I've got a pic of them somewhere too but I wouldn't want to post it with out them knowing.

What can I say? I'm really digging this thread. I'm betting she was quite the interesting old lady! I would be interested to see more info regarding her entire ordeal....e.g. what even put her in a wheelchair to begin with for starters. Very kind of her to share that joy too I might add.:blsmoke:
I didn't realize those originally selected for that program had the capability of obtaining from Amsterdam. My parents have traveled there often. Pffft, first time they came back with pictures in front of a coffee shop "Don't criticize it, legalize it." Pot plants right out front for decor. (I wonder if they brought those in at closing time, ha)
I swear I tried to convince my mother to even bring back one single seed for me......still to this day, she says, "No, it's illegal." Oh dear God.......know also that today she is a complete advocate for my using it. Like I said, pathetic when so many must live as if they have committed a crime. Nothing could be further from reality. The criminals are those busy bodies who truly feel they are doing something WORTHY in this world by inflicting unmeasurable pain to innocent people hurting not a single soul.
