Molasses in a dwc system.

They say dont use molasses in a dwc system because it coats the roots.....so im heating up 1/2 teaspoon of molasses to a gallon of water and adding the gallon to 8 5 gallon dwc buckets hoping it will help but not coat the roots...its saids to use a tsp per gallon, but im starting at 1/2 teaspoon per 45 gallons until i get paid FRIDAY to buy some carboload.......what does everyone thinks?

If you are running bennies, they will probably eat some of the molasses, or at least keep the bad shit in check. If you have big healthy roots, you might be fine. Then again you might be about to fuck yourself.

its only half of a tsp spread over 45 gallons....ive cooled it down and it wont stick to anything.

i don't think the issue is coating. putting sugar in your res can cause things to grow that you don't want in there.

I wouldnt recommend it unless you change your water frequently.....but im a dirt dobber,just my .02¢.peace

An abbreviation for beneficial microbes.

That is a super small amount, it probably won't hurt anything but probably also won't do anything.

It has to do with creating a breeding ground and nothing about coating roots. Root rot has followed almost all who use it in hydro.

Are you doing wholly organic hydro? If so, molasses will probably help, as it does in soil I would believe, but it is also another good source of food for non-bennies. Or are you adding bennies and molasses to a chem fert regime? Which is not a good idea either, seeing how most chem ferts aren't compatible with organics.

I tried it and had disastrous results. I will not try again.
