OK wiseguy, your lemonade mockery made me go look it up. I haven't read it in a lot of years, and I couldn't find the whole article on their website, but it is called "The Flavor Factor" by Dr. Luthor Thomas, printed in the Growing Edge, volume 7 no. 2, back in 1995. I remember it was thoroughly discussed in many online forums.
I think the guy may be an Aussie. He mentions a product available there called Bio-Earth Sea Acids by Waterworks Horticultural of Melbourne, and the stuff is half citric acid and half cane sugar.
