Mom ticketed for 2 year old urinating in public.

It wasn't the kid who was ticketed. The way I see it, the mother was cited for "failure to plan ahead", regardless the charges of record. cn
Plan ahead? Dude when a two year old has to go there is no planning. Was she supposed to change him into his pull ups? Or maybe carry a piss bottle? The great thing about being two is peeing where you want when you want. I'm late 20s and I still piss in public. Maybe not on a light pole but still. Ever watch the YouTube videos of kids shitting in a hardware store toilet? All I'm saying is even when you think your kid is potty trained and you ditch the pull ups and back up plans kids have accidents.

this is the kind of ridiculous enforcement of laws that makes this country stupid, lady even pointed out a homeless population defecates and urinates in the parks and they dont get tickets . . .wonder why . . could it be couse they just wont pay them . . so they fine her with prejudiced

Maybe by underlining that peeing in public is bad ... but that's a pure guess on my part.

I also want to repeat the small size of this story, and my surprise that it was elevated to the status of news. There are much more reportable things in this country imo, but this one didn't run afoul of the interests-that-be ... cn
I will agree with this. News these days is strictly entertainment. Perfect example...... Last night's late news was full of some bird on the loose. Then....oh btw three people got shot we know nothing about it.

Imo there is planning. The mother could have been prepared.
I've been to restaurants with toddlers. I ask "do you need to go?" Innocent wide-eyed No, and the five minutes later ... right.
So I reject any argument that this isn't on the mother.
After all, she could have put him in a pull-up after a restaurant meal ...

I will tell you the part that i really dislike - the citing officer claiming a public=protection angle because of possible pervs. Lame and weak imo. Ticket her for public urination because it's improper, okay. But to wuss out and claim "I'm trying to help you be a better parent" was two-faced of the citing officer.
If that is indeed the way it went down ... we have one angry parent's unconfirmed version as the whole story. This is conjecture, of course, but I consider it possible that a hurried woman whose profession is "a licensed social worker and sex education counselor also trained in early childhood education issues" might have been visibly offended when the cop began lecturing her. A yuppie mom who's taken a broadside to her professional esteem is a fearsome force. cn

I agree when they say no you take em anyway and nobody says she didn't do that. I've made my kids go to the restroom when they said they didn't need to and guess wha...five minutes later someone is pissing somewhere. Idk. I'd have to be there and witness the situation before giving an honest opinion on it. Some parents lack....some don't. And sometimes ....shit happens.

I agree with all of this. cn

I kinda agree with Carne, but we don't know maybe the kid had just finished going 10 minutes before, or maybe the mother had been running around doing errands for 4 hours with the kid bouncing around with his sippee cup.
Still, I do agree, there is ALWAYS somewhere to go better than a pole out in the middle of nowhere.
