Montery Florel (Ethephon) to reduce stretch?

I have read a few articles where florel (Ethephon) was applied to plants to reduce upwards growth (stretch). I have used florel when needed, usually when dealing with unstable genetics to reduce chances of hermaphrodite issues... Always successful and it works.

However, I have never used it for reducing stretch before flower. My plants are totally over grown in veg right now and I am going to flip tomorrow... I'm gonna have a mess on my hands. Has anyone had any experience using florel for this purpose or any information whatsoever on its effectiveness to do so??

The first time I am hearing about this but did a little research, it looks like it might work. It would be great if you try and share the results with us :bigjoint:

First you have heard of the product/chemical period? Or first you have heard of it being used to help reduce stretch??

It definitely works to have a seedless harvest in case some pollen gets spread around, or to disable male flowers...

I will more than likely give it a shot, couldn't hurt! I'll definitely document it in my thread..

I don't condone the use of PGR's.
I'm gonna skip it... I talked with my buddy and well known breeder (AK Bean Brains) earlier. He said if I run them on a 10/14 light cycle the first week, then switch to 12/12 after that, that it would cut the amount of stretch in half...

Just an example here... I got 26 girls selected for flower. My head space is only 7ft. With the air cooled hoods, leaves me with 6ft. I have to do something or I'm going to have a mess on my hands for sure... This is my first time ever using coco coir and I was definitely not prepared for the extreme fast growth compared to the 18 years I have been using promix and other similar peat bases...

Heres a SoHum95 (1989 Southern Humboldt Black Domina x 1995 Black Domina) male (one of several males about to be used in my breeding program)... this is in a small half gallon grow bag, which isnt even a half gallons worth of medium. Never seen anything like it! Although I LOVE the results I'm getting, my girls are in 3 gallons of coco and are much bigger!

First 3 pics.... examples of my males in less than half gallon bags.

Heres some shots of my girls a few days ago... they're much bigger now, than in these photos. I have topped all branches today and cut them back a bit, so they're a bit shorter... but not much.

Oh and just wanted to say... I don't condone the use of 99% of PGRs either but maybe read into Ethephon (ethylene gas) it basically dissipates in no time, especially using it the first week of flower. It turns into a gas and no residue is left behind. It's actually quiet safe. Ethylene does come with health effects, but it turns into a gas which the only time a health hazard is present would only be during application for the person applying it.

How many ml per gallon? What days of flower do you spray

The plant makes it naturally.
It's what ripens the buds.

The use of good banded light, in the proper intensity. Reduces stretch also.
I have FAR less stretch with my LED's over my HID lights...

I use HLG 550 copies. In side by side runs. These beat my HLG 550 and my 1k HID's in Jupiter 6 hoods (20% more reflected light out put hoods)

Check The V3 series out. Out preforms 1k DE!
