Moving out to Cos. Springs in April!! Any advice on areas to get in?

My family and I are moving to Cos. Springs in april and was wondering if anyone could answer some questions for me? Thanks for your time in advance

I'm not sure where you are coming from , but just so you know , Colorado Springs ( The Springs ) is a city very high in crime . They have been in the news so much lately . For a few murders and a lot of drug busts .

Hey Dadio? Whats a "few" murders and were the drug busts illegal? or medical sanctioned? im from a city that has a high crime and murder rate so thats not ok but its ok ya know! Are there any good areas that are in the springs or areas around that arent that expensive to live? My city is going up in population and pricing so i need to move my family to a lil slower pace place and cheaper but nice at the same time? And i thought why not Co. right!!! Lol!!! Thanks Dadio

I like Ft. Collins better . It's a college town with lots to do and a whole lot safer . We are not perfect as all areas have their problem. Just a better place to raise a family . I came from a small town in California called Los Angeles about 21 years ago .

I moved from Dallas to Co Springs last April.

Dallas was a MUCH more intimidating city than Co Springs. The only negative
things I've experienced here are just some dumbass drivers.

Prices vary greatly on houses out here and they seem to have something for
everyone. Best way to find out is just to come visit and see it for yourself.

Boulder and Denver are the best places to grow according to my very expensive lawyer. Apparently Boulder county has a grow room in every other house! Boulder is expensive but, the BEST place to grow. Fort Collins is beautiful and way more affordable. As far as growing goes it is pretty laid back in Fort Collins also. If you aren't an idiot you can get away with a lot anywhere in Colorado. It's wayyy different than any place I've lived in! Love it in Fort Collins!

If you are thinking about coming to Colorado to make a living by growing, you might do a lot of research first.
Caregivers can only care for 5 patients and then sell only for cost to produce. As a caregiver you can not sell to dispensaries.

Opening a dispensary is not allowed until 7/2011 if you have not already applied.

If you are talking black market growing and selling... who knows. But cultivation and sales of any amount is a felony here still.

So who is selling to dispensaries? They are not growing all that they sell.

The dispensary I visit grows almost all of their buds. They have some
25000w perpetual tree grow setup and the product is ridiculous.

As far as I know dispensaries are buying from contracted growers. I don't know of any dispensaries stupid enough to risk their license and criminal charges by buying from black market or caregivers.

Are you serious? CO Springs - very high crime rate? A few murders a years does not very high crime make. Granted things are relative but a few murders & crime busts is nothing. When I first moved to CO almost 10 years ago, it amazed me that the news even spent time on some drive-by shooting. Compared most major metro areas around the country, CO Springs is extremely safe. I would never live there but that's because of the religious fanatics there, but that's my own opinion.

And oh - up north, your beloved Ft Collins and the surrounding areas have more problems with meth labs & illegals than elsewhere in the state. And who wants to go to your local bar and have to deal with a bunch of drunk-@ss college kids. I like the Ft Collins restaurant scene & the micro-brews are amazing - but that's it. Ft Collins is a boring town. Great for the retired & families raising kids. Anyone 21-50 - find a place with a real social scene.

LMAO . I'm almost 50 and I enjoy the parks , walking trails , micro breweries , museums , the mountain drives . I enjoy my kids and grandkids . I don't troll the bars looking for college tail . I have a wife .
If you don't like Ft. Collins , go to Boulder . Bye Bye .

How does that work, the contracted growers, I mean. Can anyone be a contracted grower?

I would also like to know that, because my plans for the room will be a 2'/2 48w t5 commercial grade, 2 1000w MH(veg) thru a daystar ac with 2 inline fans 440(i think) as close as possible, 2 1000w HPS agro prem reds also same hoods with 2 fans in a 10x12 room divided 32 total for me and 3 patients 2 not in same house with 2 28" fans in a standalone bucket with me watering with water mix, now i was wondering with my hoods being cooled at such a high rate do i need an intake and exhaust for the room itself or can i just use the fans to move air around the room? now back to the contracted, lol, after 2011 can anyone open or contract with a collective or center and sell for profit or will it still be limited to collect. to collect.? and keep the info comin guys, the more the merry, i have pages and pages of research in but too much is never enuff!!!!! thanks everyone

Growers had to be contracted as employees of the MMCs by 8/1 of this year. Leases need to be in the name of the MMC as well.
At this point no additional growers can be added until 7/2011 when the initial moratorium is lifted. Once that happens a dispensary would have to buy an Optional Premise Cultivation License [OPCL] for $1200. The grow would have set up in a zoned commercial or industrial area. A dispensary probably will not bother with a 2 lamp grow.

If you have even a fleeting interest, you must first read HB10-1284 and fully understand how things work. It's not as simple as you might think.

i have read some of it, still working my thru all the gibberish and filler that they put in it, i know its only a 2 light flower setup but it will be roughly a 5000w light setup between the 3 rooms and thast just to get started with the potential patients that i have out there, ill have atleast 3 as soon as i get there for sure with edible rec., im tryin to build a relationship with this collective that my buddy out there frequents so we can maybe talk some contracts, but i understand theres alot more to it then just growing, still searching for a lawyer out there that really has some exp with mmj and ive already got potential investors to back the fees and apps if my bus. plan starts and follows what i have planned so far, but yes i do have HUGE drive and will to accomplish this goal of mine. I lived in Colorado Springs for almost 9 months, living on the southwest hippie side about a half mile from the tiny town of Manitou Springs. Colorado Springs having bad crime? that's laughable ..... you ain't seen no crime in comparison like Atlanta, now that's a cesspool of violent crime, I lived there. I got tired of Colorado Springs because it was too far to drive to the ski resorts, and you do not want to live in a ski resort town unless your rich or have a lot of room mates splitting the bills.

I live off I-70 West near Idaho Springs , and I'm tired of the long ass drive into Denver. I don't know where else in Colorado I want to move, I like Boulder but damn its expensive. I'd like to find a place in Golden so I'll still be at the edge of the mountains but closer to Denver, but still not certain. Anyplace outside of Boulder is high like Louisville,Superior,Lafayette. Longmont is expensive too, and its 15 miles northeast of Boulder.

I know I don't want to live anywhere east of Denver but staying on the west side of I-25. I'd like to check out Loveland below Fort Collins. I came to Colorado like a lot of other people did from out of state because of the booming MMJ bud nugget gold rush... ...... then soon after the Colorado legislature started fucking around with stricter MMJ bills and in the process found a way to shutdown the caregivers and cut down on the already over-priced dispensaries making them even more over-priced by increasing their permit fees. I know there are attorneys working on turning that shit back around. In my opinion if a caregiver is producing A+ herb and tries to get $150 an OZ for it, when your average dispensary is getting $300-to-$350 an OZ....then the caregiver is the one doing a fair service to the patient...not the robbing dispensaries.

What it comes down to is the Colorado legislature wants to track and trace all MMJ from seed/clone to harvest then who's hands its going to and in how much quantity and how much money.
