Doing the test on the 400s is How i found about using the MH,during flower.Back in 08 big discussion on MH versus Hps for flowering,Got to, I didnt know who to trust,So did Myself!!Unless, im overmedicated pff,Ive got to be doing something, pertaining to this plant!!

I've got a mix of colors haha. My ratio of reg to blue is in NO KIND OF ORDER hahaha. Hopefully the combination doesn't hinder and flowering potential!
I don't anticipate it being a problem tho. With the next op I'll aim to focus all the light I have as best I can in one area!
Def. gotta check up on a metal halide 150w conversion bulb :joint:

I use a 4 bulb t5 by sun leaves for early veg, I love t5. I ditched my 8 bulb setup for late vegging plants a few months ago for a pair of 150w spectras. They veg a little slower but they run cooler and drink less. The environment stays right at ideal without drying things up and allows for better airflow. It gave me quite a bit more freedom for height given I don't have to concentrate on plant distance to tops as much too. I would only use LEDs for flower for supplemental lighting tho. My spectra sucked for flowering, but there are better and better ones out there every day. Nice thread, I'll stay tuned.
Appreciate the props and the input bro! I'm GLAD that we could link up as I see you are doing you damn thing!
But after this harvest I'm gone sit down and plan everything out before I do it ya know.
And I need to do some more research regarding my flowering spectrum. Based on what I've seen around, seems like it could make a big difference if you nail it down.
Maybe a combo of lights(HPS/tube flourescent/CFL/LED) might produce some results we haven't seen yet lol..But maybe not...Oh well, time will tell

And have you gotten around to mainlining yet? Looks hella productive man and I'm def. gonna give it a shot with the next op :joint:

Yeah I'm glad we connected! I've mainlined a few and they've turned out great so far. If you go led stay away from spectra for flowering lol. I tried a cmh spectra led combo without much success.

This is mine.No i havent seen any Biocanna but i live in a small town,of about 25k peeps.
Need to go to Dallas,To get almost everything,And my hydro store moved to Colorado.
It works fine for cuts and seedlings,But imo way to little in lumens for veggin the way im used too!

But like I said it was a freebie from i dont even know where.

I say you use it as side lighting then ya know? I think side lighting is WAYYYYY underrated at this point. Especially because HID is the current #1.
I think side lighting is what really develops the bush. This new crop of small plants have grown taller because they've recieved a majority of their light form the top.
I think taller is better in a way because you can train it and go from there, but that tight node spacing and that base of my stems on the bigens came from 360 degrees lighting i think. That was the variable in the growth of the two generations. The environment has remained the same.

But i'm gonna work on a plan to focus all the lights I have in one area for the next grow.
I figure I'll use to T5 over the top for the first 21 days, flip to flower and then throw the HPSs in at an angle for top and side lighinting. /-----\ <-kinda like that with cfl hanging in the front.

I figure I'll only grow a couple out so that I can REALLY work with them..But who knows what the future holds...
I'm about to set my sights on mainlining for sure tho :joint:

If i ever buy a Fluro this is the only one Id Buy!

Ahhhh, so this is the one Kronz was talking about. The "badboy" T5.
Haha nice! Man if I could drop some serious cash on lights right now I'd probably look into the high powered LEDs. They've got some REALLY strong ones out there, but REALLY EXPENSIVE. I would NOT have dropped the $380 retail price for my T5. I only got it because it was $100. Didn't realize how good of a deal it was right away, but DAMN do i now!

But I'd shoot for 360 degree lighting and grow under 24/7 light with the LEDs given the cost! Doesn't that sound like a plan to you?!!!

No way yet, am I gonna go led over a 1k.
Il wait and let the new get off of em,then
maybe the price will come down!!

A buddy of mine uses em for veggin and they do
awesome, but he doesnt like em for flowering,he uses 1ks

Don't be surprise if you see me with a 1k during the next flower run haha. Esp since I can cool it with my fan.
And damn right! Those LED prices are WAYYYY to steep ATM

If you're considering flowering with LED, please do your homework. I'm convinced that a majority of successful case studies you'll see online are bogus. They're switching the HID lighting out for the LED's to take videos and pictures or some shit. Basically, if you make the investment of LED's, do your best to authenticate proven results with the lights. I thought I did that with my Spectras, and it turns out they just kill flowering plants. The manufacturer did extensive research AFTER the products were developed and sold on the market, and it turns out that the wavelengths were spot on, but the intensity was through the roof and they just did nothing but fry my plants during flower. For veg, they're awesome, but now I have $1,000 worth of veg lights and half of them are sitting in a box on a shelf lol.

There are alot of LED manu's out there that just take blue and red bulbs and make them light up. They look pretty but the results is definitely in the science of dialing in the wavelengths and the right intensities for vegetative and flowering stages. Use caution, and cheaper will never be better for LED's.

I run (2) 4 x 4 boxes, one with 1 x 1000 HPS, and another with 2 x 600 HPS and I won't ever change to LED again until I can see proven results in first person. You can never go wrong with a trusty 600 and they're easier to cool in the warm seasons! I used to run 4 x 54 T5's on the side of my box for supplemental lighting and I eliminated them when I got more involved with canopy management. For a T5 to be effective its best to have them 4" or less from the plant and I opted to use the extra power for air circulation. Side lighting is sweet though, which is why I'd love to do a vertical 600 or 1000 someday.

Thanks for looking after us with this post bro. Good info.
And I know lts of ppl just slap shit together and call it this and that regarding the LEDs bcuz I started my light shopping on eBay.
It's crazy how many different LED lights are out there in the market. I've been advised to stay away from the ones in China, but that the Blackstar LEDs are descent. What do you know about them?

My thing is.....I've got 2-150w HPS and a 380w T5VHO....I have no idea how I could fit 2 600's in my space with all that, so it's looking like there's gonna be a trade off to get the 2-600's, or and addition of a 135w LED to what I have now.
And I wasn't even CLOSE to thinking about switching out the HPS of T5HO for the LED for flowering. I was just thinking in terms or adding one in just to get that 630nm color wave ya know?!

Decisions decisions! Def know that I'm gonna get a tent to make everything pertual and that I'm gonna use PandaPoly for my floors lol.
I have managed to get that far :joint:
