Day 89; Day 36 of 12x12 flower cycle. Northern Lights X Blueberry cross.
It's been a while since my last update, but my girl is developing nicely. The LST seems to
have created more evenly sized colas (about a dozen).
I expect to have her curing in the jars by Thanksgiving, but I will not harvest early--I'm
gonna wait for 50% amber trichromes.
Tiping up the pot shows the underside of the main stem. The stem
is much thicker than normal due to the horizontal growth and the
additional support that the stem must provide.
Underside view of large fan leaf.
The red that is starting to show in these buds along with the
green leaves will definitely make this a nice holiday plant.
The late afternoon sunlight makes for a good time to
take pics and show the true colors (unlike the HPS light).
The buds and small fan leaves are starting to get frosty, sticky
and very aromatic!
Just counting the time left--should be 3-4 weeks to go.
Moldy and Rope Smoker, as always, I appreciate the feedback. Moldy, sorry about those male plants--4 plants is a very good number to work with though. Maybe we will be able to compare notes on the sativas next Spring.
I want to give some feedback on my Vapor Brothers Handsfree vaporizor:
First, I really like the fact that vaporizing completly eliminates any concerns that I previously had about smelling up: the house, myself or my clothes. I can be vaporizing in the house and nobody in the house can smell any pot odor. I have taken several draws at the beginning of a session and my wife standing on the other side of the kitchen could not even detect that I was doing it as there is no smell. This makes me much more comfortable about any unexpected visitors showing up at my door. Also, I don't feel that I have to scrub my hands and face, change clothes, use mouthwash, etc. before going out in public after vaporizing as I did when smoking. The spent weed in the vaporizor, smells faintly of popcorn and does not have that nasty lingering burnt smell that a roach has. I set my vaporizer on the kitchen counter when we are cooking and serving our happy hour drinks and it is very nice to take a few pulls and build a nice appetite for supper.
Second, the heath reasons for vaporizing verus smoking are very good. When vaporizing you are slowly toasting the herb to release the vapor and you are not combusting and releasing smoke, tar or carcinogens into your lungs as you do when smoking. You do not burn your throat, choke, and cough uncontrollably either. Since there is no smoke, my eyes do not get red and give away the fact that I am stoned.
Next, Taste - Wow!!! You get that mild fresh minty taste of your herb exactly like you enjoy smelling when you smell your living buds. The fresh, natural flavor without the charred ash flavor overpowering the plant is most enjoyable. Since the taste is so good, I have a slight problem of not wanting to stop and doing too much.
Last, it is a more efficient use of your herb. When you smoke, a lot of vapor goes out the end of the burning joint, pipe etc. With the vaporizor, it stays in the vaporizor until you draw it out. Nothing is wasted. To me the high is great - light headed, silly, body stone. I can smoke more because the vaporizor is more relazing an does not burn my throat and choke me up. I can walk away from the vaporizor for an hour or 2 and it is still as ready to go as when I took my last hit. You can't walk away from a joint and come back later without re-lighting it.
I can't think of any downside except the cost. Mine cost about $160 for the handsfree model. I can't imagine how a more expensive model could work any better. Its a great value in my opinion. I do understand that my model works best for 1 or 2 people using it at once. For larger groups, the much more expensive Volcano with the party bag is better.
I have been very pleased with the performace of my vaporizer from the first time I used it about a month ago. The first several times I used it, I over-did it a bit and I felt fuzzy headed the next day. I have now learned to slow down a bit and not suck on it continually and I don't have that problem anymore.
My wife takes faster shorter breaths than me and did not get very high the first few times that she tried it. She made the comment that she wanted to try the pipe next time to get more of a high (yuck). I fixed her up though the next time after that comment. I turned up the heat on the vaporizer a bit and a thicker cloud of vapor was much more obvious when she inhaled. After the 2nd draw she was too stoned, dizzy and spinning for the rest of the night. She now has a new respect for the vaporizer. Apparently, everyone needs a slightly different heat setting to maximize the vapor depending on how fast and long they draw.
