My first grow thread. CFL (talk, help, learn)

Ok here goes.
I have never done this before.
I went down to LA and got two clones of Jack the ripper about a week and a half ago. 3/22/09. I put them in 2 separate pots under 2 23watt 1500 lumen CFLs. See first pics. that was the first day i planted them.
sunday I modified my grow box, witch is a cabinet for 100 bucks at home depot.

today day 10 I put 2 more lights in 23 watt 1650 lumen cfls.

They have grown a decent amount in the last ten days. I will keep posting about once a week with my modifications (if any) and the progress of my new little ladys.

If anyone has advise or just wants to comment. bring it on.

oh yeah one more thing.
I am studying to be a professional photographer so the pics on this thread should be pretty sweet. the pics will all be of my plants but hey, thats fun right.

total lights
2 23watt cfls 1650 lumens
2 23 watt cfls 1500 lumens

both are bright white but one seems a little warmer than the other one.

1 mini fan (k-mart) $10
miracle grow potting mix

I have also been using tap water for now. I know this is a no no.

i knoe those 26w are good but i need hlep MAJORLY becuz i cant get any answers i need to know HOW MANY 13w 2700k cfls do i need for 1 plant seed-harvest? i no 13w is very bad but i am using onlythe lighting i have and if i have 2 computer fans and 1 stareo fan or motor with a fan blade on it and a 12v ac adaptor if i wire all the fans on the one cord would it make them slower speed? and if i use normal top soil and use NO NUTES at all juring my grow would it affect it and if i run lights on 12/12 from seed-harvest would it just make the plant go straight to flower? would it work? do u need NUTES? how long should it take from seed-harvest if the lights r on 12/12 the whole time?

well man,
that was a lot of questions and honestly I am not the right guy to answer all of them. this is my first grow and I am learning as I go.
I have a grow journal now under the same name. clf grow (jack the ripper) in the grow journal section. you can join me there if you would like.
All I know at this point is what I have researched for the last month or so.
I would say build your box brother. we can learn as we go. but you are going to need to go buy some lights.

browntown: you will probably want 1-2 more cfls, try to get some warmer whites. id also try to arrange a cfl n a lower level, maybe just a regular lamp to hit the lower buds with light.
and tap water isnt so bad if you let the water run for a bit, and definitely let it sit for a couple hours before watering. i would worry more about the miracle grow soil

dr green: yes it will start to flower and your plant will finish short. it will work, just dont expect a great yield. and you i dont think you need that many fans if your planning to only grow 1 plant. yes, you will need some NUTES for budding, especialy if youre starting to bud immediately

Ok cool thanks King. I will add a warmer cfl to the power strip today. I will also put one of the lights closer to the plants. I have heard you don't want to use the warmer cfls until you go into the flowering stage, and thats why I have none in there now.

[sorry i didnt get the chance to reply but thx rep+ closetking and sure thing browntown ill cheack out ur grow and i no u said im gonna need nutes but im gonna stick with the natural no chemical way and i dont have that fan no more it stopd working so i threw it at my neighboor but i am getting a small fan for curucalation and i aill add a carbon filter on it later on in the process i will get different soil if my grow doesnt work becuz thats the only problem i can think of i have one seed directly put into soil the soil is kinda clayie and no perlite just no name brand top soil and it is very clayie and hard wit clay balls on the surface(sucks i know all i have for now) but if my 5 seeds($5 value and i can get more anytime) dont work ill change the soil and plant one doesnt work still ill change the lights next i just dont have alot of ,money and yeild all i want is 14gs dry and cured off each plant and i will be growing all 5 seeds i have under one 13w 2700k cfl for eac plant/seedling if they do brake ground (i hope fingers crossd) then i will scratch the soil and buy some higher wattage bulbs
