My first grow

I heard from BC BUDS that "Fresh air is our friend" I live by that now 2 years later. I would find someway to vent it at night time.
Your plants are at the moment at the stage where I start ferting. I use a good soil so I wait 4 weeks after putting in its "Life Pot" then I start veggie ferting. I notice a slight burn in your earlier posts but couldnt tell for sure. I am a noobie too and I have grown indoor/outdoor for 2 years.

The pic on the left is a cola from my grow this year.

Yeah I think I slightly burned it with some fish emulsion crap I used a few weeks ago. Since then though it's been straight clean water and 18 hours of good light, and Fiona(still hoping its a girl) has been much better. I wasn't really planning on putting it another pot, should I? Also, could I spray seltzer water on the underside of the leaves for c02? Is it best to spray before wake up or at bed time?

By the way, that's a bad ass looking cola TKK. I bet it was good.
 
Most spray before wakeup/right after. I (must be where I am at) find it less damaging to my plants to spray after lights out. Room is still warm and dry enough to soak in and dry up, I dont have mold issues, never have, guess im lucky. Also, I spray very lightly. As for co2 water, I am waiting for the results of that question.

Little situation this morning with my lights. Today is the first day of flower so I made sure to switch out the MH bulb and put in the HPS bulb. Well, I go in to check on Fiona and the HPS BULB IS NOT ON and is buzzing like a mofo! The CFL's I have around the lower parts of the plant are working fine, so it's not a power issue. So I tap the bulb, take it out and put it back in. Still nothing. So, I put the MH bulb back in as that's all I have. It works fine. It really pisses me off about this HPS bulb as it's brand freaking new. My question is, can I flower with the MH bulb? Is there a way to tell if a bulb is bad by looking at it? I sure hope it's not my lighting system (Sunburst 250Watt switchable), as it's only a couple of months old.
 
You know you can flower with MH bulb, however you will not have the spectrum. Some ballists will not run an HPS bulb. MY ballist is for 1,000watt bulbs with a switch on the back to convert from MH to HPS. I dont buy MH for my HPS veggies just fine. I am a frugal grower with great results.

Might add VERY organic.

When I changed growing rooms I switched the switch on my ballist to MH by simply handling it. I didnt realize this for an ENTIRE flowering cycle, I couldnt understand why my buds were 25%-40% of normal size. I had a HPS bulb in it at that time. WHAT A WASTE

ALSO, Running your ballist on 220V cuts down on heat and electrical useage. from approx 11amps down to 5 (on my ballist at least)

Allegedly this system is supposed to be able to run both MH and HPS. So either it actually doesn't or I have a bad bulb. Is there any way to tell if a bulb is bad, a HPS bulb in particular? As far as flowering with the MH bulb, will this bring the yield down?
 
To be honest I have had my light for two years and havent had a bad bulb yet, I swap them out after every grow. I had heard that when they gow out they usualy appear black, but thats after use. If its brand new could you go exchange it?

A little intensity would be lost due to the spectrum, BUT if money is tight like for me it will work. probably a 30% cut in yield

Nah if the bulb is bad, I'd have to send it back, which isn't really worth it. I may just have to go downtown and see what the hydro shop has.
 
Home depot has the 250 hps bulb for 21.00 dont know what they want on the mh 250 but try this if u have a voltage meter unscrew bulb look on ballast label for open volatage which is usually i think 208 thats what u got coming out of mogul socket anyways after bulb is out turn on ballast and carefully take one lead and touch to contact in center of socket and other lead on metal contact that the bulb screws into. DONT TOUCH LEADS TOGETHER. u should read whatever your open voltage is that is listed on label if it is right then its bulb if not u got a bad ballast happened to me before and when i did this i found if i put 120 into ballast i got 120 out and if i put it on 220 i got 220 out so my ballast was fried and it just was acting like it was another piece of wire it wasnt transforming 120 to into high enough voltage to fire bulb if u dont have a meter take bulb to hydro shop and ask if they got a light u could test it on

Thanks for the info fabfun. I don't have a voltage meter so I'll prolly use your idea and take the bulb up to the shop and see if they'll test it for me.
 
they should do it considering if it is bad they can sell u a bulb if they wont dont buy shit from them Shop i go to want to help not just sell u stuff
 
Just a little update. Started flower 4 days ago, I think everything looks good so far. Let me know what you think. I'm hoping to see its sex soon.
