My First Grow

I think its because they already amended the acidic soil with lime to match the water they will be feeding. For example, fox farms ocean forest will never get PH lockout unless

If it helps any, i water with a ph of 8 (hawaiian tap) and never had any lockouts since. I will not post links or argue, because it really comes down to knowing you're soil. Nothing wrong with PH'ing the water if the soil cant buffer it. Careful though, more microlife = more acidic soil = ph cant climb back up in time because the water was PHe"d down (asuming the micro-life didnt get cooked by h202/synthetics)
im not into arguing it either.... shoot a pic on the board of your grows up id like to see them ..

If the soil isnt buffered enough then yes, you should ph or get true organic soil made for MJ. There is no short answer to a quick question like that except for using 6.8 ph balanced soil and water that isnt more then 2 points off. If lockout still exist, something is wrong with the soil (dead/defective) or water.
and i wasn't in anyway talking about lock outs occurring..

SPL.... i just realized your name you keep saltwater reefs?
Phil no,i do not collect ocean coral its actually illegal to take them from beaches out here, i am an avid night diver though. im a DC electrical engineer, i build pwm/ic/hc/data boards for a living. I dont mind showing you my grows but i will have to private message them to you when i get home from work. I just got into organics about a year ago, i was PH crazy to begin with because i started with synthetics and always had lockouts due to salt build ups (noob mistake). Then had simular issues in organic soil untill i figured out PH down was screwing up the microherd in the soil(i used alot to bring 8 to 5.5 that gave me a run-off of 6.8-7.2) , thats when i stopped.
