Ok friends, harvest day has come for my 1000w Jillybean. She as it turned out, she was the smallest pheno that i got from the 3 i had to pick from. But she has some coloring traits that are nice. I wont run her again, but my next big one will be her sister, which has the amazing orange candy kick-ass-ery in spades. Anyway, ive always harvested for clear/cloudy trics, so this time i went the other way, just to see. Took her to 60 days and about 30% ish amber.

This will also be the last 1000w light grow i do. I made the mistake of using an old bulb, and i do think it had a negative impact. Im all about 400w CMH grows from here out.

Tried to get some close up pics, but they just came out blury... Time to get a new digital came with macro!

Thanks for the great journal. I just read Drew's book and put some Jillybeans in airpots today! How close did you follow the techniques from the book? did you do a 4x4 scrog or use a different size? I was thinking about a 3x3 scrog - do you think that would be too small?

Very interested to hear the outcome from Jilly! Thanks for all the insight on this strain and type of grow!

OK friends... so i have a dry but not cured weight here. 190 grams... Not too stoked about it really, but i knew she was a smaller yielding lady, and she smells crazy good, so live love ah? I learned a lot, and will carry these lessons with me, making every grow better and better. As of now ive got her in a 1.5 gal jar with a small hydrometer to ease her down from 65% to 55% RH as slow as possible. Going to be my best cure im sure. Going to finish my first tent in this thread, then its on to the Vortex girls, and in about 3 weeks, tent run #2 with my keeper Jillybean pheno who is bigger yielding, and just REAKS of a mostly orange candy bag. Cant wait!

Thanks johnnymcpotts! I started with the NEWS training in the begining, but i did not keep it to just 64 evenly spaced heads. they kinda went crazy in there. I think that may have been part of the problem. less focus. Also another thing i feel i did wrong was used a year old cheap bulb. Even if it was a new cheap bulb, i think it would have been much better. I also only veg'd for 4 weeks from a 1ft barely "news" stripped clone. Could have vegged for another 2 weeks and had a much better result im sure. I had about 3'x3' of useable screen, that i did not totally fill. But no, if all things were optimal, i feel you could easily get a pound out of a 3x3. Ive seen people get that off smaller. I think the air pots are the way to go too. I plan on using at least 10gal airpots from now on. Like i said though, this pheno i used was the smallest of the 3 girls i got. Im running my keeper pheno the same way, (only in a 400w cmh tent) in 3 weeks. Think ill get better results in that. To me, the biggest thing about that book that they overlooked is the wasted light. If you can keep temps right, i think an enclosed area with mylar right on the edges of the screen (aka a tent or homemade "chamber") is a much better use of the light, and you can yield much more. Good luck friend!

I've also been wondering how high I want the scrog screen to be. How high off from your grow medium was your screen?
About a ft. But i had her propped up on a 6" platform also. This way i could drain her saucer easy, as well as get under her skirt and pick out dead leaves.

So today is the day the first two plants in the first tent come down. A plant called buttermelon, and a BlueWidow. Will have some shots of them up in a bit...
