My germinated seed hasn't sprouted yet??? Help?

Hello all, so I germinated a few seeds last weekend and this time I didn't let the tap root get as long since the last time I damaged it, so I planed them about 2 days ago. The tap root has barley popped out. But still it was showing and nothing has surfaced yet, I the pots wrapped with Saran Wrap and a cfl to provide heat but still nothing. Anything I should do?
 
I wouldn't worry about it unless you planted it too deep. I'd wait maybe 7 days after germination before starting to worry. My first seed died cause I dug at them to check to see if it was doing anything.
 
When something like that happens to me, I sort of wobble/shake the pot plant to loosen the soil, so the sprout has air. also make sure to point lots of light at the sprout that hasn't popped up yet. Not an extreme amount of light, but allot.
 
If you don't see anything, I would move the dirt around and try to carefully uncover it. The seed might be sitting root up or you might find that the root is really long but it just doesn't seem to be growing "up"... I've had seeds that had reaaallly long tap roots before I could see any green.

So I was able to uncover the seed without damaging it, still looks the same as to when I planted it with the tap root barley showing, but I had discovered I planted it with root up by mistake so I put root down this time gave it a little water and recovered with suran wrap and put it under my cfl. Should this work this time? Or should I start germinating more seeds
 
it can take a while. If you uprooted it and taproot hasn't grown at all they are most likely dead. Once they crack they sprout quick. They can rot if they get too much water and they die or if they are allowed to completely dry out they will die. I use a moist paper towel in a bowl I cover with saran wrap and poke a hole in the top. I usually let them sit on the rogers box and they get heat there. They are usually all cracked open by 3 days (some can take up to a week) I put them in soil I water the soil before the seed goes in. Then poke a hole to my first knuckle joint and put the seed in. I cover it with abit of dirt (do not pack dirt must be loose). I use those plastic see through covers for clones over the pots and seeds will sprout maybe 3 or 4 days after. If you are in a basement or the floor is cold you might need a heat mat for them. I get 100% germination almost everytime . Rarely one may not sprout but this way works really good for me
 
^ What herb said!! You can use peat pellets to start, the transplant to a larger medium. Also, I have dropped seeds in root tap up, and the seeds right themselves and come up no problem. It does take a little longer, however.
 
Give the seed a soft squeeze, see if it squishes. I had your same problem but mine was caused by cold nighttime temps.

Turned my seeds into little zits. Saw no taproot growth after several days, so I dug them out to check them and they hadn't grown at all. Gave them a squeeze and they popped and white root mush came out. Sad day.
 
I always plant my seeds with root tap UP.
The root tap curls naturally back around the seed and then drags the shell off.
If you plant it down, it actually has to straighten out and grow down.
 
I planted 10 seed on Tuesday. Just planted seeds into damp soil. 9 of 10 are standing and I can see the other is just about to break the soil.013.jpg004.jpg
 
I have planted around 30 seeds with soak for 12 hours papertowel for 12 to 24 hours then plant in happyfrog ocean forest mix and they sprout withim 24 to 48 hours tops 100 percent so far.

When you pre-germinate you don't need to plant 1/8-1/4" under the soil
Use tweezers to hold your seed and place the seed flush with the top of the soil. You want to see the top of your Seed shell.
**Make sure to water your soil before you place the seed. If you water after you place the seed, the water loosens the soil, and can drag the seed down deeper into the soil.
**The soil needs to be moist all the time, but never wet. I poke holes in the bottoms of my Solo Cups and water from the bottom up. It's hard to over water when you water from the bottom up.

the sad truth is the seed is dead.. if the seed cracks and you see a taproot coming out and it stops then it is dead.. once a seed cracks open and starts to grow then it will not stop unless temps or some human error causes the seed to die.. i have had seeds pop and a taproot started when i open the paper towel to check them that lil temp difference kills them.. i close the towel and put them back on the heat mat and thats as far as they grow, never getting any bigger or growing anymore. just a spec of root and seed. when i pick it up and check it it's like as stated above a zit or mush.. probably over watering the paper towel. i have also had seeds pop and grow in the paper towel with there first set of leaves on them in 3-5 days.. so it's all in the seed weather it's a winner or not.. hundreds of ways to germinate seeds and they all work but if the seed is bad then its nothing we can do to make it grow..NOT everyone has the option to get clones so be patient and remember do what works for you..
 
From my experience the best way to germinate a weed seed is by dropping it into water for about half a day and keeping it out of light. It probably doesn't matter if the seed sinks to the bottom of the water or not (though maybe it is best if you force the seed to sink to the bottom of the water).... let it soak for half a day, then after half a day, place the seed onto a very wet bunch of paper towels (use very warm, not hot, water) and fold the paper towels over the seed GENTLY, leaving lots of room for the seed. Its probably a good idea to not let the seed become entirely submerged in water at this stage, and its generally a good idea to put it in a warm place.
A water cabinet? (the place where the hot water is) If it gets cold at night, then its probably wise to keep it away from the windows at night.

Get a solo cup and fill it with soil, get a plug and soak it in water with B52 in it and then put the plug into the soil and cover very lightly with plastic wrap and put it under your light and leave it alone!! They will definitely take off growing unless your seeds are duds. Try this before discarding the seeds

Thanks for helping this guys challenge. Hopefully in the 11 years since he posted this, he was able to figure it out.
