My idea of death

...the reply to mp. ATP is a transport, not the energy itself. (seen figuratively)
You are trying to make an already known and understood process infinitely more complex by making presently unfounded, and most importantly, unneeded claims.

Not trying to shit on you, my man. I've always enjoyed your posts (when they don't make me pull my hair out :D ) But you're looking at something we already understand and attempting to make it more complicated than it is because it's more elegant, or beautiful, etc. A nice gesture, but in this case; we know where the energy comes from, we know how it's processed, and we know how it's used. No extra steps or processes required!

Electrons transport energy through a copper wire as electrical energy. Electrons transport energy via ATP through cells as chemical energy. Please explain and define what energy is if you are going to discount these facts.

...can you explain it? What is energy?

The scientific method, art, philosophy, electronics, space travel, medicine, and fully conscious thought/sentience I'd list as a few other differences. Oh! And toilet paper...
We were "human" BEFORE those things. Or do you consider those born pre-1960's less than human?

So maybe we're not that far above the animals after all. We just think we are. Nothing but arrogant, tho clever, monkeys.

...I wouldn't have it any other way :)

...I know what you're saying. Even in believerdom there is the idea that God is unknowable. 'It' is a level of mind not accessible by normal means of cognition. Still though, the mechanics of that energy are one are of study, among many. I have a ton of respect for those who can focus their minds in such a way to examine the mechanics of life. But for me the truth is that I am better at amplifying than figuring. Does that make sense?

The scientific definition of energy is this;

The capacity or power to do work, such as the capacity to move an object (of a given mass) by the application of force. Energy can exist in a variety of forms, such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, or nuclear, and can be transformed from one form to another. It is measured by the amount of work done, usually in joules or watts.

The word you are using when you describe energy under the syntax of your explanations... is called "supernatural energy". Something that cannot be tested, nor can it be measured in any way with any of the reliable tools science has given us, so in no way can relate to reality as we experience it, rather it can relate to reality in only one way... the way we would like it to, or in a better sense (how we pretend it does, like karma for example).

We are animals with a neat trick imo. We cannot be above our own natures without the Bootsrap Contradiction* being invoked.

*not counting the non-Euclidean Zen geometry of sectioned koans. cn

Is there life, is there life?
Is there life after death?
Do you believe? Oh yeah!
Is there life, is there life?
Is there life after death?
Do you believe? Oh yeah!

Do I beg, steal, cheat or lie? Oh my is there life after death?
Oh I wish I'd never smoked so much
I wish I'd never felt the Devil's touch
All that passes through my eyes so fast. Oh my.
Is there life, is there life?
Is there life after death?
Do you believe? Oh yeah!
Is there life, is there life?
Is there life after death?
Do you believe? Oh yeah!

It's such a sad sad song
Mother Nature ain't never wrong
She always tells you when you're getting on
Oh my, is there life after death?

I can hardly wait to see my face
Will I still have one in a different place
Oh you'll forgive me if I hesitate, but oh my
Is there life, is there life?
Is there life after death? Do you believe? Oh yeah!
Is there life, is there life?
Is there life after death? Do you believe? Oh yeah!

Is it any wonder, I feel just a little bit under
I hear choirs filled with Fenders say return to sender
Jumping information, I've got hyperventilation
Will it help me if I walk the streets
I gotta get down search around here dragged by my feet

Oh no I never knew those (?)
I'm gonna shake it, shake it, shake it, is there life after death
I can't remember when I felt so sick and rough
And now they're gonna legalise the stuff
It sure tells you when you've had enough, off the cuff

Is there life, is there life? Is there life after death? Do you believe? Oh yeah!

Is there life, is there life? Is there life after death? Do you believe,
I've run out of breath.

Um, everything I listed existed before 1960, and some for centuries or millennia before that. May be time to break out the old history books...

Even the Egyptians had PooPyrus. In scrolls, no less. cn
...I went to add to your rep just now and when I moused over the icon it said "No. Fuck off. I'm full." :-o

...and since I'm on a Monty Python kick, I'd add this to the thread:

"GEOFFREY: Who?

GRIM REAPER: The Grim Reaper.

GEOFFREY: Yes, I see.

GRIM REAPER: I am death.

GEOFFREY: Yes, well, the thing is, we've got some people from America for dinner tonight, and--

ANGELA: Who is it, darling?

GEOFFREY: It's a 'Mr. Death' or something. He's come about the reaping? I don't think we need any at the moment."

go... look in the mirror
What if I look into the mirror on an angle, and look at my bathroom wall instead? Does that mean the bathroom wall has an afterlife?

Is that what you're getting at, that things that have reflections have an afterlife? I'm not sure I'm "catchin' what you're throwin'...."

I'd prefer to throw rather than catch ;)
