quick question to professionals out there...will growing 11:30/12:30 from seed make a big difference from growing 12/12 from seed?

my bagseed sativa is growin for roughly 4 months now , one and a half feet in length maybe 2, internode branches have grown 2inches from each internode. These plants went through some precise pruning sessions and they always did well.

i can also see a couple of calyxes with two or three thin hair like structures, bad thing ; they come out white but soon turn brown and dry. the upper calyxes are kinda ripe and swelling and new ones (really small) are forming on the lower internodes. !

1_____ are things goin well ??? and how soon might the plant start flowering ??

2_____will these calyxes sprout out new pistils that swell and grow upwards and will they come out as independent new structures forming on the internodes
...

Its a totally organic grow without any chems or fertz whatsoever. !!
Hoping for a precise and well informative reply and thanks for reading !!

do what you love, love what u do !

Thats how it was for me too.
Those calyxes which are in countable small numbers that grow on the side of the point where secondary/tertiary branches form are just pre-flowers.
These got swollen somewhat and the pistils browned out.

But, then the real flowering start and it happens so fast that if you leave the habit of looking close at the plant, for a week, you will feel the change! :D
Small branch like things which has just stacked calyxes and weird single finger leaves start forming everywhere. This, I believe is 'the bud' :|
Several of these will be there on every branch, and at the tip of each branch they are quite a lot and form clumps or clusters. This I believe is the 'cola'.

The upper branches have a hell lot of brown or half-brown pistils, while the lower branches where the calyxes are younger, are white or just started browning.

hard to tell without a picture mate, but 1.5-2 ft for a sativa (as far as i know) - doesn't really sound like it's growing at it's full potential, that can cause delays in flowering

Well there's two ways of looking at it. You could go out and collect some seeds from locally grown material and then you would have something that is already acclimated to the area. Looks like what you have growing will be some very nice sativa. Or you could order some seeds which seems to be what your leaning towards. In that case I would not try to grow Indica in a hot humid climate at least not a pure Indica. One strain that has always done well for people in hot humid environments is Skunk #1. Back in the 80's the guys from HighTimes took Skunk #1 seeds to Jamaica and gave some to the growers. A side note worth mentioning is that most of the original Jamaican genetics was actually Indian genetics brought there by Indians when Jamaica and India were under British rule. The went back a year later to see what they had it it had worked out well for them. Or you might try Orinigal Neville's Haze if you can find it. Haze should do well in the heat and humidity.

you seem to be a pro as well though, any idea which seeds i should buy in this kind of climate?
Great thread dude; tons of positivity heading your way from me! :-)

May I suggest Heribei from Sannies. He bred it for outdoor growing in wet climates, and it's top quality and good and strong.

@elchupacabra ....yeah i have deliberately given less space to the roots so that the plant size remains equivalent to an indica even though its an sativa. Moreover the size is small b'cuz i have topped the plant on several occasions so that is becomes bushy rather than a tall stalk with disjoint bud formation.

im happy things have proceeded the way i wanted, will post the pics of the plant and a few closeups for u to conclude.

1) the plant is growin in my balcony and gets good amounts of sun, but then again during nights its not completely ridden of light as streetlights are on, The intensity of streetlight falling on the plant surface area is quite feeble. DO u think such stray light may not pave way for the flowering harmone to goo full pledged. WIll it delay my flowering ? is your outdoor grow space light proof during nights or the same as me with little low intensity light interference.

2) bro the next time u order some seeds do tell me as i would love to pool in for a couple of hybrid seeds to try, will help me with the postage charges. Im a student, hehe, hope u understand.

question 1 holds more importance to me right now. !!

PEACE !

@666

Light, even feeble light, during the dark period can stop your plant from ever flowering, or make it turn hermie on you. Landrace sativas seem to deal with it a little better than indica, but if it's light enough to see your hand in front of you then it's probably too light and it will affect your grow.

thats probably only as far as indoor plants are concerned, or plants grown under an unusually high lumen count...since the light intensity is much more outdoors (at least here) i've had my incandescent balcony lamp (about 2 feet from the closest plant) on for 2-3 hours by accident at night, it's a 100w bulb and i haven't gotten one hermi on either my landraces or hybrids thus far...

U said uve had that bulb glow for 2-3 hours but how many days has this happened ?? cuz i have streetlights on all the night, low intensity.

the sun intensity i get is full on equitorial power bomb , enough to set a black LAMB OF GOD tee on fire, hehe !!

I have preflowers, had the street lights been interfering i would have not had them either, YES ?
shud i move my plant indoors at night in my room, its also gettin fuvckin cold out ther, do them plants like COLD ?

where do you live, how cold is cold, if you're in the equatorial region it's unlikely to get cold enough to inhibit growth

You get pre-flower regardless of the photoperiod...it's one obvious hint from your plants that you can change them to 12/12 from 18/6 (when growing indoors) to start them flowering.
I'm not an outdoor specialist, but I have heard that they are less sensitive to night-time light too...like elchupa said...

If you can cut down the light easily though...by setting up a screen or something, then my advice would still be to do it. One less thing to worry about after all...

ok i'm having a major issue now. this has happened with no less than 13 seedlings and 3 plants, i go to bed, check on them the next morning, and literally the entire plant is GONE except for about 10% of the stem sticking out of the ground. it looks like it has bite marks on it, although i can't say for sure. like literally everything above the first node near the base of the plant is no longer present - from being a 1.5' extrema plant, it is now a 3" extrema stem - over fucking night. does ANYBODY have any idea what's happening? please lemme know ASAP if you do. thanks

Monkeys? Or perhaps someone stealing your plants? Otherwise it would take quite a big group of locusts to do something like that...

Sorry...or massive rain damage of course...but I guess you would know if that was happening (and it's dry season now isn't it?).

it's not dry season, but yes i know when it rains, and if it's rain damage the part of the plant that broke off should be there somewhere. it's not, and on closer look, the marks do resemble bite marks. i figure they're mice from some research that i did we'll see...
