With the summer time temps approaching and the days getting more hotter and more humid as each day passes.. I remembered that I did have some problems keeping my temp/humidity levels in check last summer. (actually, where I'm at.. the summer temps are already here, even though we're technically still in Spring season)

So, I went on a expedition to locate and find the best portable A/C unit. Well I found one about 2 weeks ago. It's called the 'Commercial Cool" portable A/C unit. There are 3 different models with each one having a different colored outer shell. CPF12XCK-B (Black one, the one I got); CPF12XCK-P (Platinum color); and lastly.. CPF12XCK-W (White colored shell).

I went with the black one because it looked the best IMO. Anyhow, this thing is freaking awsome! I got it yesterday, around 4 or 5pm in the afternoon. UPS dropped it off and when I brought it inside the house, I noticed it said wait 24 hours before turning the unit on.. just in case the unit was tilted or laid onto its side while being delivered.. they recommend waiting 24 hours after you receive the unit, to give the oils and freon time to drip back into its original position so that any moving parts will get adequate lubrication and so on.

Anyhow, this thing is bad to the fucking bone son! It's got a digital read-out display on the front of it; its mounted on 4 caster-roller wheels so you can easily roll it to a different location; adjustable vents so you can control where the air flow goes; Unit is rated at 11,500 BTU - which is PLENTY of BTU's for what I'm using it for. I'm not only using it for my grow area.. but I'm also using it to help keep my house a little cooler.. so maybe I won't have to run the house a/c unit all that much during these hot summer months. I really think its going to help me with my A/C bill.. as well as keep my grow area nice and cool.

Since I just got mine in the mail yesterday, I, myself.. don't really know what all features and functions that this thing has. However, I have found a few advertised features and functions of the unit, check them out below:

- 10,000 BTU Air Conditioner
- 9,000 BTU Heat Pump
- 80 PPD Dehumidifier Function
- Air Circulating Fan
- Eco-Friendly R410A Refrigerant

The Commercial Cool portable air conditioner cools your indoor air with 10,000 BTUs - or heats with 9,000 BTU's - while it's built-in fan circulates the air. It can remove up to 80 pints of moisture per day from a room up to 450 square feet. The unit features "Continuous On" and 1 to 24 hour digital timer settings, perfect for cooling the room any time of day. Smooth rolling casters help make moving the unit from room to room a breeze and if the power is interrupted, the unit has an auto-restart function.

Here is a list of a few more functions and options of the unit:

Auto-Restart Function - Unit will restart in the event of a power failure
Auto Evaporation Function - The Haier Commercial Cool portable air conditioner is designed to provide quiet and efficient cooling to any room without having to empty a water bucket.
Digital Time & Temperature Display
3 Cooling, 3 Heating & 3 Fan Speeds
Dehumidification Function - 80 Pint/Day Dehumidifier
24 Hour On/Off Timer
Remote Control - LCD Display
Smooth Rolling Casters - For Easy Mobility
Front Air Discharge with Multi-Directional Air Flow (Up/Down/Left/Right)

Here are a list of some of the specifications of the unit:

  • Dimensions - 29-7/16" H x 17-3/4" W x 15-1/4" D
  • Weight - 69 lbs.
  • Cooling Capacity - 10,000 BTUs/hr
  • Heating Capacity - 9,000 BTUs/hr
  • Electrical - 115V/60Hz | 9.5A (cooling), 9.2A (heating) | 1050W (cooling or heating)
  • Power Cord - 6 feet
  • Operating Temperature - 61°F ~ 100°F

And just some extra information about the unit:

  • RoHS Compliant - Free of 6 hazardous and toxic substances including Lead and Mercury.
  • R410A Refrigerant - Environmentally friendly refrigerant that does not deplete the ozone layer.
  • EER - Energy Efficiency Rating of 9.5. EER tells you how many BTUs a unit uses for each watt of power. The higher the EER rating, the more energy efficient the unit is.

I realize the unit is quite expensive.. but let me tell ya, it will more than likely pay for itself by the end of the summer season. I'm really excited about buying this unit because now I have complete control of my plants environment and I can keep the grow area at whatever tempature I want it.. and I can also put and keep the humidity level wherever I want it. It doesn't get much better than that my friends.

Anyhow, I've got a few more hours before I can switch the unit on and start playing with all the functions. I just wanted to share this with everyone.. to maybe help give other indoor growers an idea of how to control their grow area environment. This is by far the best option I could come up with.. unless I wanted to spend about 2k on an actual 'ECU' unit (Environment Control Unit)... which I didn't have the money for anyhow.. and even if I did, I wouldn't order one of those.. I'd rather have one of these.. not only are these units cheaper.. but I honestly believe that this unit will do a better job than one of those 'ECU' units. Also with an ECU unit, you have to have good knowledge of electricity; A/C AND D/C currents.. and so on. Basically you would almost need a professional to come in and wire up the control unit.. then you have to worry about paying that person to put it in and everything else.

Lastly, if anyone would like to check out one of these units (they have quite a few different models available, some have more and some have less options and functions.. depending on how much you want to spend.) Here is a link to the website:

Check them out.. IMO, when you consider all the functions and options these units come with.. the price isn't really all that bad. Well worth the investment IMO.

Have a great day everyone!

peace..

P.S. - Here's a few pics of my unit that came yesterday.. pics are below this line:
*Pics were taken with my crappy camera phone.. but you can still see what it looks like****
