My very first "official" grow using LEDs and organics

Okay folks, I am pretty new here. Been following some grows, etc. for years now, finally getting the chance to start my own. I have looked at irishboy's led grows and did some research of my own, going to start with Blackdogled's BD700 flower spectrum in an approximately 2.5 ft. by 5 ft. closet, just not sure what type of soil or soilless? grow medium, really scared of hydroponics and do not want anything to go wrong. I have a shitload of seeds coming from the single seed centre, awesome place, i will list those later (nothing under 20% thc, greenhouse, mandala, OH MY GOD!!) so i have a really good chance of pulling something pretty frigging awesome off. Well, we'll see what this led light will do.

I'll post pics when my mylar gets here and I start setting up the closet.

id suggest pro-mix as a soil, but ive never been enticed by the thought of growing with leds..but I smoke alot of pot soo my personal use is a whole closet full...

Ditto on the promix. Real simple.
Good luck with multiple strains, they will invariably have different feed and space requirements. Difficult even for an experienced grower. At least you'll be learning quickly.

Sunshine mix #4 is my personal preference... The 700w panel you are buying from blackdog is missing spectrum components. I'm not advertising for anyone but I bought ISIS from www.ledgrowlightsdirect.com and they work great for my needs. I have 5 of the 160w running in my crawl space running CO2 on 25 plants and I am pulling down 3+ every crop. I haggled with the company and they discounted the lights quite a bit for me. Oh and my space is 3.8' high by 3' wide by 18' long. it is a closed enviornment and I flip the clones after 4-5 days rooting after transplant grow purple kush.

One thing you should know, in my opinion the smaller fixtures are a better buy for the money because the can be spaced out for better coverage. In a confined space this is pretty important.

I looked at the isis and I'm trying to figure out how your 5 spectrums are more than my 15? I'm pretty sure these lights got it covered, but I guess we'll see. Appreciate the info on the soil mix, this is my first time going "all out" so we'll see what happens

Well, got the last of my seeds in, now waiting on delivery of light which will be next week. Varieties grown will be: Northern Blue Mystic (seeds from Tulare Alternative Relief), Green House seeds Bubba kush, Arjans strawberry haze, Hawaiian Snow, Barneys Farm Violator Kush, Magus Genetics Motivation, Reserva Privada OG#18. I also have some Green house super lemon haze that i might throw in at a later time, and a granddaddy purple mother that I brought from TAR to get some clones off of. I will start with about 5' of floorspace, probably between 12 and 16 plants. Crap, I forgot I also have a bunch of Arcata trainwreck crossed with blueberry from an outdoor crop a friend grew 3 years ago - very, very tasty! Maybe I can find a suitible male out of one and do a little breeding. Anyway, the plan is to find the "right strains" for what ails me! Tired of hit and miss with dispensaries, etc. Finally going to do it myself and take the guesswork out, eventually, hopefully!

well, I am going to move this to the right forum, I forgot this was the grow room design and setup so since I am past that already see ya in the grow section!!
