Ah shit we have a rivalry of wits here!

I never, ever heard of the idea o removing the aluminum foil to let it breathe... wouldn't contaminants enter that way?

Although, I have heard of only dunking for several hours as doing the whole 24 hr. thing is overall kill on the mycelium!

Please ANC, get rid of the shaded grey areas and shed some of your much needed light ;)

i followed the tech from the shroomery. step-by-step. exactly as written. whatever it said there, i did. i think it said 12 - 24. i soaked mine about 16.

what's a few hours anyways? enough to close a thread over?

I'm always open to new suggestions, especially if they work!

I just want to maximize the tonnage of each of my mason jars... 5 grams plus in each jar would make me a happy camper!

i did it once with perfect results. even after injecting two strains into one jar because the first didn't grow. it worked.

i followed simple directions and didn't try to "improve" on proven techs. i had NO questions and was patient and CALM.

i dunked mine for 24 hours. it worked. please explain how you did it.

thanks.

:peace:

you need to recheck your poll before you get all bent. "or open suggestions"
oh mine worked out to 14 jars 10 different strains i think it went well 2 different teks 3 different casing methods

any how!.

ok try it this way dunk them for different amounts of hours and see what the difference is and 1 other person on here said he dunks his for 1 hr. and you seen that i do 6 hrs myself and try a 50/50 casing method.

if you use the pf tek > http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7543789

or this one as well

Overnight or 24 hour soakings are fine, I realy don't get much water in when I try anything shorter.
But I seldomly do cakes, and with the larger trays, you just measure the wet weight of a harvest and throw that much water back on top of it (gently).

yeah because shrooms are 90% water so it would be smart to measure the wet weight i know that of course. lol tell me why shroomery told me like 5 different things and no-one agreed on it either .

Then ill go with the 24 hour dunk!

I just want festive, big thick stems and caps coming from the cakes like Vestise pictures shown ;)

If I do the dunk and roll method how many more grams per cake should I expect ANC (on average of course)?

you NEED to remove the tinfoil you should of put micropore tap over your 4 holes on the top before you pc'd them, and also when you mixed your brf, water and vermiculite you should of put about a half an inch of DRY vermiculite on top to make a buffer for any contaminant that could of fallen inside the jar. the tin foil is only on top so water dosnt get into the dry layer on top when you pc.

any how how are you love? also i got a question i got these bumpas pushing to the surface of my jars and they are pressing up against the glass and making these yellow marks as they touch from what i see. its golden teacher strain. is it pinning because it 90-95% col. fruit it or what ? dunk or no because im going to take your advice and see how it goes from there.

they wont pin till they are 100% colonized can you get any pics? make sure anytime you dunk to clean off all of the pins between flushes. or they will rot. try to get some pictures they shouldnt be leaving yellow streaks. also if your worried you can let them pin inside the jar than birth them and once you get a flush pick it, clean the cake off than dunk it. you just wont get as big of a yield. the only reason for dunking is to get water into the vermiculite so the mushrooms have more moisture to grow bigger.

and when you do birth them if they have yellow crap on the walls make sure to examin them good and check for a strong mushroom smell from the cakes when you wash them. if there is any indication of contams be sure to toss them. we had some people who grew some here about 2 months ago that got alot of people sick and put them into sezures. its alot better to be safe than sorry.

Pinning means its ready to goooo... Like pre-flowers on bud :)

Dunk and roll and fruit!

Yellow stuff is what we call mycelium 'piss'. Metabolites left over by the mycelium. ALWAYS give your jars a nice long whiff when you open em up. Should smell like dirt and mushrooms.

Not experienced in pf jars but experienced in grains and monotobs and mycology in general. Any questions feel free to ask :)

I doubt the contamns caused seizures... But seizaures are kinda somewhat common with mushroom takers (I know of 2 people myself that have had seizures on mushrooms... scary)

But some of the thousands of strains of bacteria or fungus that can grow in there can kill ya.

Mushrooms do in fact often produce seizures in people with epilepsy... thats how many people find out they have it....
However, molds can be very dangerous leading to blindness or irreversible liver damage or worse, say hallo reduced lifespan or death.

A good way to learn what they should smell like is to go smell a packet of button mushrooms at the supermarket...
Anything smelling cidery or sour appleish is bad....

I love the smell of fresh pins.
