a buddy of mine told me that shoving a nail into the base of the stalk the last night before harvest would cause my ladies to go into shock making the buds absorb more thc and whatnot from the stems, kinda like a last ditch effort to reproduce before death. anyone have any insite on this, sounded interesting to me. i figured i'd ask you guys?

I think it is bullshit!!! The only way to get the most THC and the best buds is to grow in perfect conditions! All those myths are bullshit!!!

Seems logical, but you gotta test it like jaime said. Couldn't possibly hurt anything a day before the axe.

I know if you bust the stalk while a plant is vegging, it recovers after a few days and grows back stronger than before. I've done it to several.

i have no clue but heres what cervantes said in his grow bible.

"Mutilating the plants by breaking the trunk, driving a stake through, or slapping them around may increase resin production but most often the stress retards growth and causes other problems."

I am telling you............if you spend your time studying and practicing prooven growing methods that is how you will get the best bud. IGNORE AND FORGET about myths all together! They are just that MYTHS!! If the plant needed a nail through it to produce the best, it would be done by nature!! LOL.....Nature knows what its doing! Leave it to alone!! :)

There is truth in the idea that plants produce more resin when they feel threatened. After all they do produce resin as protection. Though it may be more beneficial to drive the nail (or do other damage) more than 24 hours before harvest - maybe 48 or even 72 hours to give the plant enough time to do what it is going to do. Then again, resin production may not work in such a simplified manner.

Let the experiment be made!

I have said this before, and it's still relevant,We need an "old wives tale " thread.I am an old fart now, been around the Herb a long time (smoking for 44 years, growing for 25 app.) and have heard most of these myths over the years, man, this isn't even the goofiest one, that's GOT to be watering with grape juice to get purple weed (No I Am Not Kidding!!! I have heard that.). Is anybody else interested in this? PM me if you think it's a good idea and maybe we'll get it going.:leaf::leaf::weed::weed::peace::peace:

I think it is a great idea - but we'll probably just be getting more anecdotes and testimonials - with a few limited and flawed experiments thrown in there. But would love to see us creating real control conditions and double-blind experiments.

well im guessing but my two girls will have an ounce a peice once dried, one of the ladies buds aren't as full as the other i was planning on using that one for butter, i'll leave that fatter one alone and try it on the other one two days before harvest, that close to the end it couldn't hurt.
