Consider forming a small group for the purchase of a large tract and then subdividing the land. There may be some synergy there. Also, there are people that will owner finance. Good luck.

Common sense in the sense that what is commonly believed is commonly wrong. Are you subbing for Cheezy, haven't seen his vitriol for a while.

So, pretty much you are priding yourself on your personal production of electricity. Nice, but the more recent understanding of "living off the grid" is no communication, no water no sewer, no foods purchased from conventional stores. Make your own fuel do you?

Sewers are smelly pits and wasteful. You might consider reading a book by Joe Jenkins "Humanure" it's good for your garden.

I have lots of fur to stay warm, but I also have lots of trees for the wood stove. Working on a better design though, considering a "rocket mass heater".

Pride is not the motivator, but I will admit to a sense of peace and satisfaction. As we speak my better half is planning this years garden. Peace.

He can have his ideas all he wants, but him actually claiming he's anything other than some kid living with his grandma is just dishonest.

So you dont make your own fuel? Engaged in a permaculture project? you didn't mention water meat milk and eggs.

I make it a point to believe people at their word unless they give me real reason not to. Maybe because I can't find a reason to lie to people I don't know. I figure others usually tell the truth on these sites. Maybe I'm wrong in doing so, but I will never really know if they are telling the truth or not, so I figure they are.

He may well be an independent thinker, but he posts only a single thought here, over and over again. while that thought may further some conversations, it can grow a bit boring at times. "why can't government leave everyone alone" is a single note.

Fuel? Heating fuel, yes, in a sense anyway, wood is plentiful. Gasoline? Nope, still a slave to the pump. Although an older friend that passed away was showing me how to make a wood gasifier. It's a great idea, but I've not gotten beyond the theory part yet. Other friends make bio diesel, so that's a potential option too.

Permaculture? Some work needed there, but the gardens are getting bigger. Hugelcultur...(sic) in the works.

Got a kickass compost setup, worm farm and lots of bunny poop. Chickens my friend, chickens. Friends have a pig farm, we barter frequently. Can you say venison? Can you say arrows? I know you can.

Water is not a problem at my homestead.
