Here's what I think....screw the "reps" and what and who they "think" they represent.

WE MUST REPRESENT OURSELVES.
:peace::peace::peace:
Unfortunately it's not that easy. They are the only ones who can make this happen and until they hear our voice they won't do it.

Ask yourself these questions:
  • Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it?
  • Do you believe that your voice isn’t loud enough to be heard above the noise anymore?
  • Do you read the headlines everyday and feel an empty pit in your stomach…as if you’re completely alone?
If you’ve answered YES, then you’ve fallen for the Wizard of Oz lie. While the voices you hear in the distance may sound intimidating, as if they surround us from all sides—the reality is very different. Once you pull back the curtain, you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak. The truth is that they don’t surround us at all.
We surround them.

...It really is "that simple."

This may be true but can you sit in a House meeting and vote on a bill? Unless you can their voices are still louder. How do you propose that we pull their strings to do our bidding?

Not many people know the depth of the real truth that Bab's just gave. I'm one of them and he is spot on. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" It's all smoke and mirrors. The game is on and you are a pawn. Check this out and see what's going on: http://farmwars.info/?p=1355#more-1355

True, I can't sit as a representative and lodge my "actual vote." But I CAN make my voice heard---and the more who are willing to "fight the fight".....the merrier. The reality is that the public media must bring attention to this matter. Thus far, I've only seen a mere mention of the bill being "introduced".....nothing else. In fact, the ONLY reason I even heard of it initially is because I am a member of this forum.
The last we heard.....it was going to the Health Committee---but when?
There are so many ways in which this bill could be brought to the media's attention, thus the public attention. What majority of the population would you say would back passing the bill? I say there would be more than a sufficient amount of the general population......yet, how many even know the bill has even been introduced??? You would be surprised. Very few are aware.
I don't proclaim to have all the answers as to how we ACTUALLY make our voices heard. More importantly, you should note just how many "officials" in NC have already made their stance abundantly clear that they are NOT in support of legalizing. Drugs: North Carolina Political Leaders' views
After reading this, one not need question why it is a representative replies via email that it just will not pass. "They" have made "their" voices heard...WE HAVE NOT. And "If" our voices WERE to be heard, a chain reaction of SUPPORT would without a doubt follow.
Where one may do something as simple as writing a letter to the editor...and another have the actual audacity to go the extra length and make themselves SEEN for the atrocities at hand-------EXAMPLE.....an elderly woman being arrested--with ZILCH for a record, simply because she opts for a natural herb VS. man made chemicals. The list of these unfortunate events are endless. What is it that "we the people" ACTUALLY do? We discuss our frustrations, our discord for the governments actions upon INNOCENT civilians--amongst friends, amongst family...amongst those we trust--or at least "trust" to the point of not inflicting legal havoc for an INNOCENT and INFORMED opinion.
When the voices of LEGAL and SCIENTIFICAL STUDIES don't cut it......WE STEP IN. The fact is that MJ has been PROVEN SCIENTIFICALLY to be beneficial to SO VERY MANY.
The reason the general population is not in tune with this is due to all strings being pulled within--aka the gov't. Imagine "why?" The pharmaceutical industry would lose an untold amount were it to be exposed for what it ACTUALLY is.
"We the people" somewhere along the way, FORGOT that WE ARE THE PEOPLE.
We don't hesitate to display our disgust with how "they" deem it UNSAFE....while PROFITING from DRUGS that are ACTUALLY KILLING PEOPLE. We "instead" go about our lives as robots----listening in fear to what is "behind the curtain."
Look, I'm just stating what is. I know people who don't even partake of this "drug" who are advocates of its use....whether it is because they have seen loved ones suffer from cancer or numerous other diseases.
The fact is that the number of people who SUPPORT this bill FAR OUTWEIGH those who will write it off as total nonsense.
Let's just stop letting a few UNEDUCATED DRONES DICTATE our FUTURES. Let's stop sitting back nonchalantly watching as the media tells us yet another single mother dying of cancer is spending her last dying days fighting "the system" instead of expending her last days of energy exhibiting love towards her young children. THIS IS DISGRACEFUL. How many more SAD stories must be reported via the media before we MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD??? HOW MANY???

I am WILLING TO BE HEARD......I WILL NOT HAVE ANOTHER DOCTOR BITCH ME OUT FOR NOT TAKING MY MUSCLE RELAXANTS........."or" pain killers!!!........KNOW I can go on some extreme tangents here.
HOW DARE "THEY" TELL ME I CAN TAKE DRUGS THAT ARE ADDICTIVE AND EVEN LETHAL TO ME........"LEGALLY"......while at the same time tell me I would be breaking the law by partaking of something that causes no ill side effects......is not addictive, and allows me the RIGHT to live life PRODUCTIVELY?

HOW DARE THEY???

They "dare" because "we" sit back and allot them, AFFORD THEM......the RIGHT to do so!!!
The reality is that all too many are extremely hesitant to speak up. In doing so, NUMEROUS are having INHUMANE stress inflicted upon them for partaking in something that is so much more innocent than ......alcohol!!!
Tell me......when will it stop??? The answer is that it will NEVER stop....so long as we continue to be silent and never EXERT our RIGHT to be heard as a population.
In short, we've become a nation of pansies

there are apprx 35 million marijuana users in the united states of america..... that's one hell of a boycott, one hell of a rallying cry.... if all 35 million users descended on washington DCnot even the US Armed Forces could hold us back.... instead of going to your favourite toking spot next 420, go to DC, and pull a sit-down.

Again, in short....let's not be pawns....or "let's"...depending upon which direction you are looking at it from.

"Or".....we could practice the alternative route of living in paranoia and fear.

i went to a march on the NC state capitol and you know what, as cool as it was, there wasnt but like 200 people there. it was shitty. yeah people smoked in public onthe capitol grounds. yeah there was an open mic. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE. if all you can do is talk about how you want to change things and how we are pawns nothing will ever happen. you have to help make these changes and instead of talking ACT. this begins on a state level. its all fine and good to go to dc and march but shouldnt we start where we live and get legal for medicinal purposes here FIRST. This is where we live! this is where we smoke! this is where we can make a difference RIGHT NOW!!!! we should organize another march, but in stead of 200 strong it should be 20,000 strong! or 200,000 strong. I KNOW YOU PEOPLE ARE OUT THERE. are you scared? dont want to lose your job? STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN! i bet you are suprised with the outcome, your own boss may even be there!!!

If we can get the U.S. gov, federal, to acknowledge medicinal marijuana then they must remove it from the category of schedule 1 substance which means it has no medicanal use at all. Like heroin, cocain ect. ect. Even if you dont smoke, the way the gov views herb needs to be changed if for no other reason than uniformity. Also how isnt alcohol a schedule 1 substance? Wheres its medicanal value?

AMEN...........NOW WE'RE TALIKING.
Let's find the date they will be voting in the Health Commitee and MAKE OUR VOTE. We all know that a mere 200 people does NOT even BEGIN to represent our support of the public in general.
Right on.....we're out there MKAY. Let there be NO FEAR in showing your support. STAND TALL.
We need to bring as many as possible to show their support when they vote on the Health Commitee.
"We the people" simply MUST quit relying on the next person to represent them. REPRESENT YOURSELF.
People, GET THE WORD OUT!!!
Note.......if there should be only another mere 200 that show up, I WILL be one of them-----spread the word and keep us updated. :peace::peace::peace:

Martin, I had to immediately roll my eyes at even the reference of MJ being a scheduled one "drug"......I've been RX'd two of them. I desperately seek a natural alternative to them...........and I KNOW they exist via MJ
The gov't "views herb" as they do for political greed and that alone. The reality must be exposed.
Alcohol kills people on a daily basis, whereas MJ does NOT......but hey, thank Bev Perdue, she has imposed the "sin tax"....while hiding under the guise that MJ is an "evil drug."
Bev needs to be "imposed" with a daily dose of my LEGAL meds......and then "imposed" with a "j" and then, and ONLY then make an INFORMED vote "for the people."
Til then, she can KMA.

Babs, You make a lot of good points. I too refuse to be on lethal and addictive drugs when I know that MJ does a better job and is better for me. I also didn't know of this bill until I joined this forum.Since then I have wrote and called my local representative to attempt to make my voice heard.I have also had family and friends to do the same. Now is the time to act and I will do whatever it takes to be heard. Unfortunately as you stated, many people do not even know of this bill being voted on. I cannot even find a definite date. I keep my eyes on http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/BillSearch/BillSearch.asp?typeToSearch=ALL&chamberToSearch=&sortBy=relevance&sessionToSearch=2009&searchCriteria=marijuana&submitButton=Go Anyone have plans to inform the rest of the states residents? I could use suggestions on how to go about doing it.

Charlotte had some crap that amounted to a few teenagers standing out by the road with a sign saying "honk for marijuana" or some shit and a fake ass pot leaf taped together from some tree leaves or some shit.... one group lit up a blunt, but it smelled like tobacco more than anything... They proceeded to pass this around in front of the government building while some cockfag sang songs about whales or trees or some shit... LAME...
Same day as that raleigh jump off...
Got rescheduled for rain to the next week.
They had to cancel at the last minute because charlotte wouldn't authorize the noise permit...
What was touted as being charlottes "stand for medicinal marijuana and hemp law reform" was me eating a pan of brownies and breaking a flip flop...

Organize something that will make a difference, and i will gladly join...

Koncyse, I will stand with anyone that is willing to stand . I wouldnt have a problem organizing a march or smokeout , but I , like yourself and babs cant do this shit alone . We need ppl to join in and be heard. The more voices we get the louded its heard . Not just a bunch of high school kids , we need ppl from all walks of life to stand up for the right to use . Lawyers , Doctors , Bankers , Congressmen , Small business owners and anyone that is tired of smoking in the shadows. Lets stand up for our rights , I hear alot of ppl say how cool it would be , but when asked to stand up for it , most just kinda nut up and say they dont need the trouble. Well to these ppl I say , you need to worry because big brother is always watching and unless you stand with us then it will never get any better.
Its sad that the medical use of marijuana is still a crime in the southern US . When will these southern Baptist understand that its not a gate way drug . Hell alcohol is more of a gateway drug them MJ . and its legal .
