They may be talking about the "spice" or Salvia D...It was recently outlawed here along with a bunch of other states.
Thanks Bone. I didn't realize salvia (are we referring to the perennial with purple spikes?)--no worries, I google if I so feel inclined.

AGAIN, I heard this "concern" being broadcast while on the highway today....didn't make me feel confident 1380 was being properly supported.
:shrugging: Who knows, maybe it really is bad for you.

..no artificial cannabis for me. ;-)

Newport...sorry man. I went to bed after that last post last night.

I have had a day from hell. I was "lucky" enough  to get a rescheduled appt. today with this specialist I've waited SO long to see. As my luck would have it, I sat in traffic in two different places and parked on the wrong deck, making it so I had to run from wing to wing of this "place." This time I was TEN minutes late..and they turned me away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(You don't even want to know the rest.:cuss:)

OK, so obviously I am slightly peeved at this point.......I could have used this time to get to this event...yet another wasted day.

Guysssssss, something VERYYYYYYYYY wrong with this picture......I'm listening to every news station I can possibly pick up. What do I hear????????? CONCERN for the artificial mj AGAIN!!......NOTHING upon nothing about a pending vote from NC to legalize that horrific drug MJ.

The saddest factor here is that I don't feel the majority of North Carolinians were even aware the bill even existed.

After all, the only reason I am aware of it is because I am a member of this forum and Jerry pointed out the fact.

So, what now? How long until we hear about their "judgement?"

I'm not feeling really hopeful here.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Dozens of folks rallied at UNC Charlotte Thursday night hoping to see marijuana legalized in North Carolina for medical reasons.

Heading the rally was one-time Mecklenburg County sheriff-elect and current state representative Nick Mackey. The Charlotte Democrat is one of the sponsors of House Bill 1380, which would legalize pot for medical purposes.

"To me it's a no-brainer," Mackey told the crowd at the Cone Center. "I don't see what justification that we can have for knowing that there's something that can relieve the pain and suffering for so many patients with so many different conditions, [and not going] ahead and allowing them to get that relief."

One of the other speakers was Vietnam veteran and committed Christian Perry Parks, who doesn't exactly fit the stereotype of someone who wants to legalize pot.

Parks says he uses marijuana for a back injury he suffered in the National Guard. He says it's an injury doctors have never been able to completely fix.

"It has nothing to do with getting high," Parks said. "It has everything to do with relieving pain."

Parks said at first he was not in favor of the idea of using pot to relieve pain.

"To be honest, I thought it was an excuse just to use it," Parks said. "I have found since then, and I give you my word as an officer and a gentleman, that it absolutely provides the best pain relief that I've ever had."

Mackey is one of three primary sponsors of the bill that would legalize medical marijuana. Fellow Charlotte Democrat Kelly Alexander is one of two co-sponsors.

Not everyone in the state house thinks it's a great idea.

"Pain relief -- I get that," said Cornelius Republican state rep. Thom Tillis. "But this very clearly goes far beyond that."

Tillis says he doesn't buy the argument Mackey made Thursday night that the bill is all about medical purposes.

"It would be disingenuous for the sponsors to say that's all it's about," Tillis told WBTV. "I walk the halls of Raleigh, and I see the wink and the nod [as people say] 'it's only about pain relief.'"

Tillis also says this bill is just another way for North Carolina to tax people. Supporters don't shy away from that charge; they claim it would bring in over $60 million in taxes to the cash-strapped state in just its first year.

House Bill 1380, which has been dubbed the "Medical Marijuana Act," could be voted on this spring.

Ya know...Whats with these people? It's not like were asking for the state to legalize it so its sold on every street corner where 15 yr olds can pick it up. Were looking for relief, medication, prescribed by a licensed Dr, controlled and, ooh by the way Bev, it will help to bail out the state from financial difficulties. NC is a state full of military veterans just like the one who spoke at the town hall meeting. We at least owe it to them and everyone else suffering from the many medical conditions that Mj helps.

Sorry for the rant but G_D_ it!! its time for a change. Are ya feeling me? Stand up and be counted!

I got guns Newport...plenty of ammo, but only for recreational purposes....and home defense :hump:

Well in my opinion the way this fucking country is going I think we need to count it as a recreational use. Im fucking tired of seeing ignorant people shit on others because theyre too god damn stubborn to admit when theyre fucking wrong...Sorry for the rant too ^

Oh dear God, people like this I just can't tolerate ignorance from:"

"It would be disingenuous for the sponsors to say that's all it's about," Tillis told WBTV. "I walk the halls of Raleigh, and I see the wink and the nod [as people say] 'it's only about pain relief.'"

Tillis says he doesn't buy the argument Mackey made Thursday night that the bill is all about medical purposes.

Tillis also says this bill is just another way for North Carolina to tax people.(as if this is EVEN a "concern") Supporters don't shy away from that charge; they claim it would bring in over $60 million in taxes to the cash-strapped state in just its first year.

House Bill 1380, which has been dubbed the "Medical
marijuana Act," could be voted on this spring.

Oh dear God.......where the hell does this man even think it his right to even comment on this topic AT ALL?

This is precisely the kind of neanderthal making decisions for "the people"---in mass majority of being FOR the vote---that is placed into position of making innocent people like us CRIMINALS. WHAT A SIGNICANT JOKE that rightfully NEEDS to be noted via the MEDIA! Face it folks.....the media is FAILING us tremendously TOO. Had this been documented properly, the people's voice would have been heard LOUD AND CLEAR......that voice FRIGHTENS them on just enough "issues" whereas they KNOW it their ENTITLMENT to shove their complacent ignorance down our throats......AS they shove CHEMICALS, endless SICK side-effects and otherwise threats of jail time for our NEEDS.

When are we going to step up to the plate? I'm tired of pansies in this country! Speak up! Let your voice be heard loud and clear!

And BTW, I'm still at a loss as to how this "vote" went down. Yea or nay?

Either way, they can kiss my ass.....and I WILL keep up the FIGHT. The governent has NO right to DICTATE my "legal" medications HURTING me. While there are so many strains out there readily available to either alleviate or cure what ails me, they continue to create astronomically priced "medications" offering me little, if any, relief----while adding an ABUNDANCE of pain and ill side-effects!

Who do they think they are kidding?

What business do they find it of theirs if one finds relief from depression, relief from pain, refief from anxiety, relief from YES.........even breathing difficulties, relief from epilepsy, relief from tremors, relief from nausea, relief from tremendous headaches, relief from muscle spacticity, relief from spinal cord injuries, relief from arthritis, aids (endless list)........WHAT THE HELL does mj NOT provide relief from.........AND SAFELLLLLLLLY at that?
Marijuana has been SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN to ward off progression of my disease!!! The list goes ON and ON.
The government has THE had this proof for FAR TOO LONG to be playing the moral GAME.....ENOUGH!!!
My nearing 80 year old mother partook of the "demonic weed" just tonight. She has paid over 10 grand in just the past month alone to alleviate the pain in her head!!! I give her one single joint and she is FINALLY sleeping the way she should!....this is from a woman who long ago turned her 13 year old son in for possesing a dime bag!

Wake up America!!!

..stand your ground.

Does anyone here know of the Rick Simpson story . The man discovered a cure for cancer and a long list of other ailments , using marijuana to produce an oil known as The Phoenix Tears and for his efforts they want to prosecute him . He lives in Canada where growing industrial grade cannabis is legal but the have reclassified Sativa and indica to marijuana so they can still prosecute you for growing it.
I followed his instructions on how to produce this oil and made some for my brothers wife . She has terminal lung cancer . She used the 2 fluid ounces I made her in the course of a month and the doctors say her cancer has gone into remission and that the lesions on her lungs are starting to clear up . The doctor asked me where I got this miracle cure from . I then asked if law passed in favor of medical marijuana would he prescribe it to his patience . He told me noway would he ever condone the use of a controlled substance . Thats when I said I guess you really dont want the cure then . ( his wife is suffering from cancer also ) My sister inlaw has sworn off all meds except for the Phoenix tears and swears shes has never felt better .
I write this testimonal for all out there that this oil can help . Not just smoking it but actially curing the reasons for the pain. ( dont get me wrong I enjoy a good buzz too ) But this oil has cured my Hep-C and I see it working on a women they gave only a couple of weeks to live , who now is enjoying life again and has brought peace to her family again.
All I can say is FUCK THE POLICE if thier going to lock me up for helping others with what Rick came up with then I guess I'm prison bound. Talk about press coverage ya'll just sit back and watch this. I got a shit load of cash and 4 lawyers on my payroll , just waiting for the knock on the door.

I just read the issue in HT where they intervied Simpson. Powerful testimony, yet silent if it falls on deaf ears and scared minds not capable of accepting something unthinkable. I would like to know if you would be willing to share this recipe with me. I too hail from NC and have made my voice heard. We need all the closet smokers and private patients to stand and let their voice be heard. A while ago I read that theres a lot of voting influence in woman and minorities but they just are too afraid of persecution to be heard. Lets change that greendude and start our own oil refinery that will ooze healing and awareness.
