True. That's what I did and why I gave you a breakdown of my last year. And sealing a room is easy and cheep. Panda plastic. Staple it to the walls and windows. Pass it over the door. And staple to the frame. With you now trapped in the room use the tarp zipper thing run it down the middle or 2 on each side. Cut the Zipper and plastic. Instant door that seal. And if you add a intake you cut the plastic and backing. Having it sealed and you control the air will help with pests. I did my room with a 100x10' roll. And my room is 14x14.

Thanks, what kind of ac / dehumid do you have? & how effective is it keeping cool on the hottest days?

So far I have been figuring for my 10x8 room I will need to spend 300-400 on ac 100-200 dehumidifier up to 1k for an efficient co2 rig w/ nice environment controller..

i only have 1/3 of that to use on the room right now, so starting w/ venting... then will move to ac/dehumid (separate units, I do not want the 2-in-1) after that I will look into the co2 & sealing the room.

I would check craigslist list. People are allways giving ac away. I use a window mount that I stuck thru the wall. Pic will be up on my room post in the next few days. Hell if your in Cali depending on where your at I have a extra a/c. 50 bucks it's yours. Pm me the town. I might pass thru it.

I am not sure about cutting a hole in the wall leading outside, & I hear you cannot use a wall mount AC when it is vented into a garage. So portable seems my only option. Yup here in So Cal

Bull shit on the not venting into the gerage. That's where mine has been for 2 years. What would be in side the window is in the room what would be outside is in my gerage. Just needed to drill a hole in the bottom for water to drain in a area I can put a bucket under.

Do you have any experience with the Portable ac/dehumidifiers ? Because it seems 90% of them out there are 2-in-1.. and I do not know if you can set the % of humidity on the unit.. they do not specify and I do not want a unit that constantly dehumidifies beyond what I need.

I don't know anything on them. I like to use 2 separate units so I can control everything. But that's just me.

No 18hrs. That's how I desided to change my set up. After changing could keep temps in the high 80's but still to hot. But with co2 I knew I could keep it there. My biggest advice to anyone is setup the room you think will work. Run it for 24/48 hours if everything is right add plants. If not fix it. Do do my mistakes and try to do it with plants in the room. You end up wasting money.

In tour climate I'd say a sealed room with a mini chill ac would be ideal. U can use portables, less initial investment but you'll have to replace them every couple years. This is assuming also co2 supplement. With no co2 I think 1 fan can cool the lights, suck the air from the bedroom on a passive intake and vent it outside or In to the garage. I have cooler temps here and 1 8in fan is enough to cool 4k watts of hoods, but barely. I personally use natural gas to supply co2 so I don't care about waste, I constantly vent the room with a carbon folder. If I was trying to conserve, I would be a fan on a controller that would vent for high temps and tuen off co2.

But like I said, until u get co2 bring in fresh air from the bedroom(your living area will have the best regulated temps) using a passive intake, and blow through your ligths out of the room. Or bare wall passive intake, with a filter in the room, connected to a fan pulling through the filter toward and through the hoods and out of the room, that is how u can bring fresh air in.

There is a vent next to the door, it is 12x3 1/2 inches. a little rectangle, I figured I could use that to bring in fresh air on a wye splitter, 1 duct going to vent hoods, other duct to pull fresh air into room. & if used with a controller I would be able to slow the air causing temps to rise if needed @ night?
