as a member, I have to agree with maximus that the excessive pictures is really not necessary at this stage of growth.... once in flower, that's a different story, as we all love some bud porn ....

Stop bashing this man for what he says his plant MAY be..... Its an OLD seed from the early 80's he says, so in the long run, who really gives a shit what it really is??? Its likely an old, lost strain; regardless of what it's genetics are; and that in my opinion, is something worth documenting/sharing with others..... also worth a breeding project regardless of how it turns out.... nostalgia is big with many folks
On a side note, I miss the voice that this thread started with..... was kinda neat to have a grow journal from a plant's POV, but assholes had to ruin that

now i know there is not much to see. but lets look at something from a newbs perspective (by newb, i mean a newb to growing MMJ). Im an old forum salt, so i fully understand forum ettitquet, but i dont buy into political correctness. now im obviously new here. i see a SHITLOAD of new members here on RIU since even i joined a few weeks back.

that means a plethera of newb questions, like how does my plant look? is it growing ok? how much should i water ect? how do i feed ect.....


some of my intent with this thread, being from the point of view of the plant, was to hopefully give many of those newbs (if you were a newb here, and seen a thread with the title i have, i believe you ll click on and read it. hopefully it can serve as a guide at what one may expect to see over the first month of growth once sprouted. think of it as a picture book, and you just cant read english.

so while i fully accept and understand the logic of its to early to say its much of anything other than a cannabis plant, I believe a thread like this, with a good weekly pic update, can certainly be beneficial to any newb growing any seed they have. whether is just a bag seed, or a G13, or even an old skool CG they had a few seeds from back in the day still.


i ll leave you all at this point with a quick update.


last night, (when i didnt have to head out for work) i transplanted Sprout into a 5 inch pot from they styro cup.

i peeled off the styro cup, had roots at the outer side and growing back up towards the top of the cup already.
so i filled a 5in pot with the mix of FF HF/Vermiculite. i also used a 3 inch pot upside down in the middle of the 5in pot, to create an air pocket under the root base. the 5 inch pot sets in a 10 in tray now next to the DP Girls.

hes looking very good. will get a couple pics this weekend to show new growth.

As cool as RIU may be, it's not the only place on the Internet. I joined here in Aug last year, but I've been around for a while. I meant seasoned grower, my bad.

Not to disparage the cool factor, I would be excited about an old seed too, but let's all just settle down, see where it goes, help where we can, and stop making things bigger than they are, that's my point. I can tell he's new, and I want him to be successful, but the first step in that journey is to learn etiquette, and bombarding the board with picture after picture of a seedling and filling a journal with "awesome" and "looks dank" is not helpful when it's meaningless. You're over watering, you've got mites, that's helpful and meaningful. If you like a post, like it. If someone says something profound that you agree with, give respect so others know that this guy (or gal) knows what they're talking about. Simple.

Again, I was new once too and I spend a lot of time going through newbie threads to help those who are asking, and I don't want this come across as a rant, but I see thread after thread of unrealistic people who just spark fights with everyone, and every thread gets hijacked by a few jerks arguing or some big jerk with a ton of rep telling everyone theyre stupid.

Let get back to growing and discussing in the real world. Rant over. Good luck buddy, I really do mean that, and if you get some crazy strain that knocks your socks off, then let's start celebrating. Cool?

And something that I learned, potting up is stressful. I only pot up once to avoid shock, so my seeds go rapid rooter, then 7 inch pot, then 7 gallon pot if I'm going that far. I've lost 3 - 5 days when potting up because of shock. I didn't realize until I grew weed how much that shock was since I grew vegetables and ornamentals in the past, but it's enough that you should try and minimize repotting. The plants seem to be strong, but mess with the roots too much and you'll pay for it.

I assume you know how to clone, etc? Do you have enough room to keep the mother alive but run clones of her to flower?

good evening RIU. been a long week of sunbathing for me. i ve inched my way taller, and dad put me into a new 5in home. my roots were coming back up the outside of my styrohome cup, so it was time for me to be moving on up, to the deluxe pot in the sky.

thank you Timmahh i find this interesting. 30 yrs old? hell yeah! i am completly amazed that it sprouted. and i enjoy the storyline as well, keep it up! just ignore the naysayers. i am also new at it. i have only grown for myself for the last 3 years. so i doubt i will be helpful to you at all but i will try.

Yeah, nice fat leaves on her. From my experience it's already looking like a girl. I've noticed males tend to have very jagged edges on their leaves even early on.

How often are you watering? And are you using a water basin?

ive been watering every 2 to 3 days. kind of a variance from Riddlemes Making it Rain style. not much differnt in practice, but the same theory behind it.


so for this sprout, ive have only watered as it dried out some. never let it get too dry, just let it use what is there, and then refill with a liberal amount of run off, and let it wick up what it can over the next few days. Last sunday it was feed with a light 1/4 strenth mix in of DG Foilage Pro. just a bit till run off. then watered on wed a little bit, and its ready today for another drink. today it will again see a water with 1/4 strenth DG Foilage Pro in a gallon, and it ll only get a quart or so. what ever it takes to give me a decent run off.

yes, the 5 inch pot has an 8in catch try under it for run off.

Hello RIU, How you all Been> im doing Great. Dad left Monday am after a good feeding sunday, and just got home a few hrs ago. He was Very Happy and Proud of me for my progress since last monday.

i believe, correct me if im wrong, both columbian gold and hawaian blue are sativas.

i gave it a watering last sunday with 1/4 tsp of DG Foilage Pro and a Drop of Pro Tect in the gallon. Just to give it a lil ump.

it ll get the same tomorrow.

here is it, sunday almost 7pm. gonna be left alone this week in my new veggie area. Dad was a tightwad (had to be, he didnt get a check last week) and set me up for now, under a T12 2bulb 4ft shop light with a 6400 kal, and a 5100kal bulb until he can get me a more suitable sun. but this should work well for now, and who knows, i may dig my new cooler sun, now that its 80*f out, comparted to 38 4 days ago. heh. Dad says to expect this of our MiWeather.

hes getting ready to go to work in the am, so set up my new digs yesterday, and put my 2 older sisters, and left them where we all were bunking, and put them on a strict 12/12 light diet as of today. im moving to a 16/8 diet to help keep heat down as well. Hopefully, it doesnt get so warm, we have to swap or lighting scheadule to be in sun while dad is sleeping. not sure what that would do to me.

I feel very Uniform in my growth. I also think i have a strong family resemblance to my family haritage, i guess time will tell.
