Need help with an AC

Hey I just bought a portable ac for a big closet grow I have, I am going to have a fan bringing in fresh air, a fan scrubbing the air and then I h ave the ac exhausting...

My question is.. How do I setup a portable ac so its not inside the room? Im just really confused about how to setup the portable ac and my fans..

If my fan is exhausting, then how do I keep down on the smell? I was thinking a scrubber system but I dont know if thats going to be sufficient enough..

The dimensions of the closet are 4x11x8

man o man, you and me are in the same boat right now.... check my one and only grow journal titled, 'Here we grow again...'
This is what I've done so far; i moved my ac out of the tent so I wouldn't have to scrub the air that my ac was exhausting, I'm already pulling air out of my tent with a 170 cfm fan with a scrubber on it. I didn't want to buy and set another one of these and worry about the filter getting weak on week 10 of a grow....
it's a 8000 btu ac, and the way I'm doing it now is totally jerry rigged, I'm trying to come up with a better way right now so maybe this thread will help us both... I'm looking for a specific piece of ventilation that will let me go from a weird, oblong rectangle that the ac has on it, about 2 1/2 inches by 17 inches, - to a 6 inch duct. the card board box i duck tapped to the top of it is working for now, but I'm loosing lost of air pressure, i'm sure there is a more effective way to go about doing this. Anyone know where to get or how to rig something like this up? Just a suggestion to use certain material or anything might clear my brain fart and help...

I dont really know what to do...I dont think that scrubbing the air will be sufficient enough for exhausting out the window.

That's the problem with portable AC's. For a few more bucks you can install permanent AC that has no air exchange, no hoses to vent, etc.

Look up Ductless Mini Split AC's in google. They are worth every penny.

The A/C he is referring to are pretty easy to install and don't usually require you to make unnecessary changes.

You could take it with you when you are done renting the house. Just a little patch work to restore the 2 small holes you put in the wall.

A few more bucks?!? I bought a 8,000btu portable AC for around 300 something dollars, the absolute cheapest AC I can online is about twice that much and still requires installation. I am growing in a concrete block garage, only way out is through the ceiling, sounds like this install would be a bear, what does it consist of? I'm willing to do what it takes but there are a lot of tubes and wire included in the pictures of these units... I like the fact that it wall mounts though, that would help me with my space usage.

ya id be down for that 400 dollar one too but just what is involved with the installation.. I dont want to be cutting up the side of my house, i live in a house that was made in the 20s or so soo i dont know if that would be a good idea.. haha

I think ill just stick to the portable ac.. im a legal patient through the state of california anyways.. i just wanted to be respectful of my neighbors

a mini split is simple...you mount the outside unit outside, and the inside unit inside, you need to pipe the suction line from inside to outside, and the liquid line from outside to inside(like 1 inch copper tubes) then you braz them together shoot it with nitrogen, leaktest, vacum it (unless you are 100% sure of your brazing, but still need to vacum) then you open the valves to allow freon to fillt he system(thisis stored int he outdoor unit for shipping) unless you do hvac you will need to know a 420 friendly tech. machines are expensive. torches and vacum will run about 800 total for cheapies

The biggest issue for me is the outside unit, only place I could put it is in my ceiling, ceiling right next to my front door, or next to my front door. I don't think explaining what the loud sound in my ceiling is to everyone that comes to my door and asks me is going to be a good thing. I'd rather have it all in one little corner in the garage, all tucked away and secure, and quiet... maybe I'm asking to much. also 800 bucks? Shew! pricey! Even the 400 hundred dollar one isn't cheap...
Honestly, if I was going to spend that much money, I'd rather invest about 550 and get one of these...
plus a chiller and res... I could use it from now on, i just wish i could try it out and see how much it actually helps before I spend 550 on it...

if you can find an ac guy to install for you it wont be as expensive, it is only like an hour job, 3 at the most, tools forthe diy on this one are expensive.

If your going to order it online use www.newegg.com its free shipping(which is a big deal because shipping is expensive for a heavy AC) and they got way better prices than those ones u guys are looking at.....

ya im gonna stick with my portable i got, i am not staying in my house for too much longer so i dont want to go drilling holes that arent needed.

just be careful because portable ac dual and single draw from room. the dual is the way to go if you have to use a portable just dont over work it or it will draw from the room to chill compressor. The best way is to put a charcoil with a six inch inline behind so if it does draw from room it shouldnt be to stinky

I love new egg man, I had no idea they sold AC's! Cool!
I'm not getting a ac man out here. no way. not now anyway, I'd have to wait till I'm between grows.... plus the price was just for the unit, not even including the install. I'm going to have to find a way to make what I have now work, I just hope my little portable ac doesn't burn out, cause then I'm royally fucked.
