at the beginning, yes. but once the roots hit the water, too wet rockwool becomes an issue. either root or stem issues.

once you get the hang of hydro, you'll never go back to soil. what i like about it is that problems happen very fast in hydro. but you can also fix them very fast.

one other thing i'd do is either let your pH go b/t 5.5 and 6.1 or if you want to set it at one #, set it at 5.8
