Alrite im planning on buying a tent

Measures
48in - 23in - 63.5in

I am wondering
If a 400w hps would be good to light the tent?
What size circulation fan should I use for tent?
I am planning on useing air cooled lights so with the circulation fan and air cooled light would there be a problem with heat?

I am curently waiting on my seeds to get here jus orderd them the outher day they are in the us now so trying to figure out if what I figured would be ok is accualy going to work good with my new tent when I get it

Depends what your intake air temp is.

400w is enough for a 2x4ft tent. 40cubic feet id say a 200cfm at the least. Are you going to be using a carbon filter for smell? If so make sure you use an inline or centrifugal fan for the static pressure.

100cfm at the least for your light

Yes I am going tobe useing a carbon filter with a 200 cfm I believe ill have to check the order again
Intake air will be around 70/80 depending on outside temp (living in trailer hard to regulate a steady temp changes inside temp with outside)

Ok I just checked the fan that comes with my filter is rated at 424cfm
So how big of a intake would I need

Most tents have a vent in them for a passive intake. So an intake fan is not needed. If you mean size of intake id say anything double the size of your exhaust. So if u had an 8inch exhaust. A 16 inch intake would work.

Remember that the room temp is only going to be as cool as the air being sucked in plus whatever heat the lights add. Unless you're using an air conditioner. But if your intake air is 70 id imagine it'd get to about 80 with the lights and equipment running. If all the hot air is being sucked outside the temp in the room will be a little bit over the intake. So 75 about. 85 if intake is 80.

You want 75-78 ideally.

So i shouldnt need a intake fan then ?

Sry if ?s dont sound to good but this will b the first tent ive ever used
Only my second grow ever my first is current and its only
1 plant idk stran jus got it out a bag I bought
150w hps

No inlet fan required, the negative pressure that is created by the extractor fan will pull air in. If the air around the tent is too warm then use a piece of ducting and suck air from coolest source you can find.

Ok thank you for advice it helped alot

So in the tent area (4ft/2ft/5.5ft) how many autos do you think I could grow?
I was thinking about 4/5 with the 400w light

Quick recap to make sure I got it all
Useing the fan/filter combo I got no need for intake fan just use vent port on tent and if temp is to hot still find a cooler place to get intake air from

Sorry bout the ?s and stuff just want to kno as muchas I can before I do this again ive been reading and reserching for about 2 yrs but its alwsys good to grt outher peoples input because there is nothing better than the personal experience (and my 1st didnt go to well)

You got it....

As regards what you grow...in a 2x4ft space. I personaly don't like auto's too much and ya can't clone from them although I can understand why people use em. I would go for a mini SOG of 3 x 6 plants (total 18) in 1.5L pots. If the grow space gets too busy ya might have to lash a couple out. At the same time veg 1 mother (different area) ready for the next round. If you can hit 10g per plant, thats 180 total of 6.5oz yield. Ya could do alot better if ya get it right. no vegging so yield every 8-10 weeks. No need for vegging nutes (if you can get clones, ya wouldn't need ya mother either). Hope this gives you a few idea's.

Light..... get 2 x 600w hps, ya won't regret it and ya got a fair chance of smashing 10g per plant. I know peope who have busted an oz per plant.

That is a good idea am thinking of doing scrog can only afford a 400 at current time I am recieving 2 autos / 2 fem im planning on growing all 4 togather then cutting clones going to flower after cutting clones and placfeing in diffrent area

But if I wanted to keep a moutther I cant flower her can I

I know you can flower her but when your cloneing you have to keep her veging dont you
Yes, if you want to keep her producing. Another option is to take a clone from each crop and veg them to provide clones for ya next crop, so technically ya don't have a mother

I have a 2x4x7 tent with a 600w right now. I am crowded at 15 plants about finished. Next I will be doing 5 with fim and lst. I still want another light because the 1 600w doesn't hit the ends like I would like to see. It's a constant battle between close to the top but high enough to reach the side edges. ;-) Oh, and at 5' in height with a 6" fan and filter on top of the light you will need to keep them short. My light and filter/fan combo take up probably 2 1/2 feet at the top of my tent. With a 205 cfm fan I get a pretty good negative pressure on it as well. 6-8" flexible duct hanging out the sides will allow for a good passive intake, relieve some of the negative pressure, and it will give a good light filter for off time. Make sure to get the dust filters for the intake though. I didn't at first and I was amazed at the dust build up on the fan in the tent.:eyesmoke:

i would personally get a intake fan because your going to need to reduce the negative pressure having an exaust fan like that.otherwise the sides of your tent will be sucked in hard when lights are off, because you will have to cover the passive intakes.

Ok so I could get a fan with a lower cfm cuz cash is kinda an issue and trying to save as much as possiable

And thank you for the help with the mother im planning on keeping her so ill have to make a lil spot to keep her vegin

Don't know about you but my ext fans go off at lights out, just oscillating fans on. Un-neccessary cost in my eyes. Spend your money on a stronger fan and a fan controller, that way you have the power should you ever need it. Your choice Dougoly.
