I have a brief question. I am a pain management patient and have chronic insomnia. Due to the dicks at the dea my dr is now taking me off my low dose tramadol and my ambien. I cant take nsaids or anti inflammatory so i felt my only option was thc. With that said...what is the best for pain reduction and sleeping. I mean i have insomnia for days and restless leg syndrome. I dont want to use the wrong thing. Vaping will be my preference. Thanks

I’ve never grown it, but I have read granddaddy purple is good for insomnia and pain, but I can’t speak from experience. My buddy suffers with the same issue, and is going to grow some this year outdoors. He gave me a seed, so I’m going to too.

Cannabis for pain management is overhyped.
Definitely not going to work well for something chronic.
It can help with acute pain, sometimes.
As far as sleep, again, I don’t see it helping much unfortunately.
I have two insomniacs at home. They both smoke. Doesn’t do a damn thing.
You may get some people who will say CBD for pain and Indica for sleep.
I think it’s more wishful thinking than anything.
Just giving it to you straight, from my experience.
If your pain is so chronic that you’re taking tramadol daily I think you’re gonna be disappointed with cannabis for pain management.

Thanks.. ive had 13 gastric surgeries have permanent surgical clips and staples running through my entire abdomen and they say i shouldnt have pain.... i think it's permanent nerve damage so i heard weed may help for that. I havent tried it ever, but im 46 so im.guessing its not going to hurt to try jt as long as i dont mix with medications. Thanks again!

You know. I gotta get this off my chest. I love weed. It’s amazing. Has many uses.

never once, have I been in any form of pain, smoked, and thought ahhh the pain is gone. Weed, in my opinion, does not take pain away. May make that pain less of a thought. But doesn’t alleviate it, to me.

edit however I’ve never had chronic pain that required prescription meds to help! I’m talking ib profen type needed pains. This may help for chronic pain the weed I don’t know.

Weed will not help your RLS. I have that and its never helped. if you have a script for the other stuff you should get a script for the RLS. I have pramipexole at 1mg and I only take half. Only drawback is it puts you out quick. Can leave you groggy so don't take it too late.

We all know smoking weed will not help severe pain. That's just nonsense. Ingesting it can help some tho.

Had to edit that.

I cant take ibuprofen or any anti inflammatory i get gastric bleeding from.them. im limited to.tylenol or prescription meds with no nsaids. Its hard having limited options but ive nevr used weed before and there are so many opions i thought i would ask before deciding what to use etc. Im hopeful it will help.at least my stomach issues which i hear it helps and maybe reduce stress? A girl can hope for the best but prepare for the worst right?

Great to know. Ive never tried that one. I will ask.my doctor about it. Sounds like it can also help insomnia then. So it may be a win win for me!!

If you have informed your Dr of your symptoms and he hasn't figured out that you have RLS, you prob need a new Dr lol. I went once after seeing something on TV for RLS and thot, I've been going for over 20 years with this shit thinking it was just me??? Gave me that med and its been smooth sailing ever since. Personally I'd like something a little less on the sleepy side but hey its been working so I didn't wanna fuck with it. if anything I might just start taking a quarter instead of half but I'll need a razor blade for that.

my son has chronic pain from Crohns disease and multiple surgeries. cannabis 100% helps with pain.

ingesting RSO is usually the most effective method for pain reduction and solid nights sleep. I wouldn't use it unless I made it myself though. onset time and difficulty in getting dosage right can be a challenge.

smoking or vaping can help with the onset time but don't seem to be quite as effective long term / overnight. but the ability for instant relief is a lifesaver for us.

as far as strains go

Sour Bubble
GDP
Gelato

all seem to do the trick.

blessings and hope you can find some relief.

My 2 cents. I also can't take nsaids, which is really unhandy, they eat a hole right in me.
Weed for me isn't quite as good as nsaids. Cost wise it is more than drugs from the DR. and not quite as effective.

I do use it for pain though, it helps, it helps at night if I use something heavier to help me sleep. I don't get baked usually or red eyes and all that. Smoking is also the type of intake that seems to give me the best pain management. I would rather vape as I don't smoke at all.

Try each thing, everybody is different and strains hit people different. Some of the stuff that helps me sleep best is Animal Face. https://www.leafly.com/strains/animal-face

I agree FastFreddi....a potent indica...........l have Fibromyalgia and insane insomnia ( put me in hospital ).................to enhance the sleepy effect of said weed , I always drink 4 beers quickly prior to smoking. Works for pain quite a bit.......maybe I'm just so bonged-out that I do not care.
