Our Special Chocolate Easter Bunny's Family History
Our chocolate rabbits are named for Robert L Strohecker, grandfather of Harbor Sweets' founder Ben Strohecker. Grandpa Strohecker's early promotions of chocolate rabbits earned him the title of "Father" of the Easter bunny business.
In the photo (circa 1890) Grandpa Strohecker stands next to his 5 foot chocolate rabbit. The chocolate rabbit was constructed at Luden's factory in Reading, PA where Grandpa Strohecker was connected with William H Luden in the manufacture of candy. The chocolate rabbit was displayed in the window of the local department store. (The names of those who got a nibble are lost to history!)

Steelhead trout, herbed cous cous, asparagus, tzatziki sauce. Hit a good sale at the store after a long week, $10 dinner.

A very good friend is a long line cod fisherman on his relatively small boat (37'). He's been doing this for over 50 years & always gets on the fish.
First delivery this year was 6500 lbs of pacific cod - he gets .40 cents a pound for fish in the round so he made about $2600. The cannery processes it & by the time it's sitting in a store it's going for $20 + a pound, or $52 - $62 K.
It's a damn shame!

Had this on cure all week, salt, herbs dryed from summer, chilies, and a ton of orange zest. She’s about to get a 2 hour smoke before finishing off in the oven. If I had a “proper” smoker I’d leave her there all day.

I succumbed to peer pressure, again. Ham egga muffins.
Last night's fish and chips:
A roast I overcooked, still tasted good though.
Sketties with baby bella mushrooms and Italian sausage.
Had some leftover marinara and some sourdough sandwich rolls so I toasted the rolls and put some mixed Italian cheese on them melted under the broiler and some Parmesan on top.
All caught up with the foodie pics, so much work, I think the egga muffins are wanting me to take a nap now...

And she’s out and resting. Ended up finishing it with a honey glaze. Some homemade rolls, dauphinois potatoes, and asparagus will round out tonight’s meal

I wish you could smell orange wood being sawn or worked on a lathe.... well actually you know the smell perfectly well.. it is 100% like buttery popcorn.
