New Year's Resolutions Pertaining to Politics.

I am resolving to decrease my cynicism.

Cynicism kills democracies. They fall when they fail to adequately govern. I believe cynicism in to populace is what makes it impossible.

My lower brain functions say: "we're fucked. Democracy will fail in many countries very soon and the totalitarian countries will hold sway for the rest of my life.

But I'm really going to make an effort to intervene on my thought proccess and think about the wonderful future that we're capable of creating if we get over this shit. I'm gonna cover my office walls with inspiring motivational posters. I'm going to start wearing a boutineer.

I know that one person can only do so much. I know that every day I will likely overhear chitchat that will painfully remind me that we are probably fucked.

But I won't care as much. I'll think of the good people all over the world who are feeling the same way and just hope we can rally in the second half.

It's going to get better.

There are 2 children who identify as transgender in my daughter’s class. There is no drama. All of the students get along and support one another. All of the teachers and faculty support all of the students. There are no heated exchanges with parents at school board meetings.

I think about the bullshit Baldrick has to endure with his daughter and wish he lived in a more inclusive environment. We have problems here but nothing like the shit going on down there.

We could always use more smart people up here though. Baldrick would be a welcomed neighbour around here.

I wish you good luck on your effort/desire to eliminate cynicism from your life after coming to the conclusion that it is detrimental & one of your negative emotions and a fault.
Me on the otherhand find it extremely usefull & without it I would no be happy at all, ever.
You see, I count on calamity, this is what I found to be the norm in my life., the one thing that I can pretty much count on happening daily.

Disappointment

How many things have not gone the way you planned just today , that something jumped in your way & made you adjust in order to complete your task.(alway's a pain in the ass, right?)
So far today for me is that I spilt some milk forcing me to clean it up & as a result I was late feeding my rabbits which pissed them off (it was obvious)
So now I had 2 pissed off rabbbits which if you've ever been around an angry rabbit you know how dangerous they are (fuckers love Achilles tendons)

You see if you believe something good will happen your delusional & are guaranteed to become disappointed.
Not me
To me calamity is expected.
No shock for me.
