Newb question. (what is that thing growing out of my tree???)

Would you say that your plants look anything like this?

If yes, then it might be a calcium deficiency. Look it up on google images "cannabis calcium deficiency". If it does look allot like that, just look up. that website up there said that you can treat it with limestone. (I have no idea where you would get limestone.. From a river??)

Hey highlow, i knew you had the branch thing all mixed up. So ya, like i was sayin. The larger things you thought were branches are fan leaves. What grows out of the top of those are the branches which will have the buds grow out of them. Since its an auto you can run the lights on them for longer than what is normal for veging plants. Oh and no, its nowhere near budding yet.

Those fertilizer sticks are not the best type of nutrients for your plants but what the heck. If they are working so far and your plant is not showing any signs of malnutrition then your golden. I would recomend using the bloom sticks after you see the plants flowers have become the size of your thumb nail. Plants require more of different nutrients at different stages of development. UB grows outside and doesnt know much about indoor growing. Hes a smart man and wont steer you wrong most of the time but theres alot of things that hes set in his ways on that are pretty highly debated. Read his thread and do everything he says and you will be fine but justremember theres more to it than what he preaches, oh and dont top your autos ;)

next thing you need to work on is your soil situation and probably your lights. If you plan on growing more plants and transplanting eventually you should go grab a bag of pearlite. It helps with drainage, drainage is good because when your plants dry out faster they grow faster. If they are water logged for long periods of time they grow slow.

Those crappy ass peat pots you started your s33ds in need to go in the trash. Go and get some of those plastic trays or plastic small pots. Youve got a bunch of roots all squished up right now trying to force teir way through a cardboard like material right now. That really sucks for the roots. You need big roots for big healthy plants and those things are so restrictive on them.

I dont know how many lights you using on all those things but 2 42 watt cfls for veg would be good per plant. In flower id use three just to be on the safe side. You may run out of space pretty quick if you didnt know that your regular plants will double in size and can get up to 5x bigger when you switch to flowering light cycle, specially sativa dom plants ;)

lastly, check the soil that you used. Find out whats in it. Thats really important when it comes to feeding. If theres nutrients in the soil already like a good organic mix has then you dont need alot of fertilizer but if you have them in some seedling starter mix, well then theres not alot of nutrients in there. Personally id get some nutrients that are for MJ, thats my 2 cents. Your autos are lookin good man. Good luck and PM me if you ever have a question or want an opinion on a product. Id read up on lst if i were you and consider it for your reg plant. :):):)

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Yep, next grow Ill totally have more funds to buy better soil and some perlite, in fact I created my own sort of drainage system.. I got some thick bark and some stones from outside my house and boiled them, then mixed them into the soil. The soil doesn't drain super fast, but it drains faster than normal.

Those peat moss pots made of cow dung... it said on the pack that they would deteriorate after a couple of weeks! I guess they need to constantly be wet or something. I think they provide nitrogen, or something that the plants need. Next time I will definitely cut them up into shreds so that the roots are not restricted for so long!

the soil I have is plain old cheap $3 soil.

heh, just today when i got out of bed, I noticed one of the plants had a bit of a growth spurt and got a little bit of burn..... *sigh* oh well.

With lots of money I could make the perfect grow lab, but on such a small budget its not that easy.

I have 5 lights atm, 4x 6500k 32w cfl's and 1x 2700k 38w tube fluorescent. (over 8k lumens altogether)
The middle plant is getting about 6k lumens and the side plants are probably getting about 5.5k (although micro moles is really where its at, isn't it. whatever the **** that even is, lol)
I was thinking I might add another of the 2700k tube light (with 3k lumens) when the plants show more signs that they're going to be flowering. Depends on the $$$ oh wait wait actually, considering I just got a job.. I think i will do that =) ahahaha, I just hope they don't pay me in 30 days time from now or something like that.

How could i have been so negligent!

Edit, oh and btw.. those little cow dung cups that my plants are in? I forgot to mention that I did cut the bottoms out! .. No way in hell I was going to let the roots just hit the bottom and get stuck in there!

also, I just cut one of them up vertically. i gave it about 5 cuts, then watered the middle of the pot. Hopefully the roots will find there way out through the newly opened gaps.
