Newbie pollination question

So I was wondering about pollination methods. It seems to me that most people collect pollen and do their pollinating that way. I'm sure that works fine, but wouldn't it be much simpler to just hold a flowering male over the female you intend to pollinate (obviously in a separate, secluded room) and shake it so that the female gets thoroughly dusted? If someone were trying to pollinate the whole plant would this be an effective option?

Yeah it's called open pollination. It's natural way. I got many seeds from plant. You will be good with open pollination. May I ask ? What strain ? Thanks.

I have some good genetics right now and I'm excited to make some new seeds. I'm pollinating a Purple Kush female from Crop King Seeds with a Medicine Man male from Mr. Nice. I'm sure I'll get some interesting offspring. I can't wait to see how it goes.

As hugo said, there will be collateral pollination. I did this very thing and ended up with seed in every-fucking-thing.
Which isn't a total loss if you like cleaning seed out of your weed.

I have a separate little conjugal visit room for the two lovebirds. No chance whatsoever of pollen making it from there to the main room, unless it hitches a ride on me. But I plan on having a good, long shower and changing my clothes after all bukkake sessions. Safety first.

Sounds like op may not be as ready as you are.

The only problem with this, is that the female will have to be showing pistils (like 3 weeks into flower stage). That is the only time you can pollinate her and get full, mature seeds. If you do it too late, you will end up with immature green seeds. So, that is why people save the pollen... so they can hit the female precisely when she is ready for it.

In other words, correct pollination is all about timing....

4000 seeds later I'm finding if the plants are started at the same time seed production should be pretty good.
Since I had 2 303 pipe dream in the same dwc container and roots entwinde and by the time I flipped I was more or less fucked when I found one was a male. Ryan of 303 seeds suggested that a f2 of his pipe dream would be "sic" so I just let them go.

I have a separate room with its own lights where I can keep a male in veg as long as it takes for the female to be ready. As long as I can keep it somewhat small it shouldn't be a problem. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I have one more question about this cross I want to make. I'm a little confused about F1, F2, etc. If I understand correctly - and please correct me if I'm wrong - an F1 is the offspring of two different strains, and then an F2 would be the offspring of two of those F1's?

So if I cross two different strains that are both crosses of other strains, will the resulting offspring be F1 even though neither of the parents are true-breeding strains? And is there a good chance that they'll benefit from hybrid vigor?

Unless I was spanking multiple girls at the same time, I would still pollinate each bud separately by placing little piles of pollen directly on the bud sites. I get way more seeds this way, Ime. Instead of getting pollen on stems and fan leaves and the floor, I get it exactly where I want it, on the flowering bud sites. The piles are great because it just sits there growing into new pollen. But I dont keep a fan in my flowering tent, so I am a noob.
