Newbie UK grower first ever grow

it tests the electrical conductivity of your nutes (how strong they are)

I run my IONIC COCO NUTES at EC1.5

if you check your nute bottles it will say an EC value to shoot for.

your dripper system has a resovoir right? how you gonna measure the strength of your nutes?

J

i read the labels on the nute bottles and mixed the amounts that they directed for the amount of water the tanks hold which was 70l each, and the nutes were 40ml of part a and part b to each 10l

i will buy myself one of them as that will give me true readings. cheers again sir.

Plants are 3 weeks old today since germination, and ive had them in the grow tent since late friday night.

i will be lowering the light a couple of inches a day so they get use to the high strength of the lamp.

im still suffering from heat, but it is still really hot here, even though im venting fresh air from a roof tile vent the grow tent temp is staying at about 84 degrees F, so i will be buying another fan tomos just to give it an extra bit of flow.

ive had the drip feeders going 15mins 3 times aday, but i may increase it as my coco medium feels abit to dry.

at the moment all plants are looking healthy and strong.... (touch wood)

Hi rsj :)

Looking good ... Glad you got them in the tent now :)

Where have you got your thermometer ? .... Check the temps at pot hight , Between 75 and 85 at peek heat it optimum temp and thats fine so dont worry to much , Get a reading frm soil hight and let us know whats happnin down there :)

Question about your drippers ... hard to tell from the pic ... but are they in the soil or above ? ... Might want to concider moving them a bit futher away from the plants and wet the area near the edge of the pots to encourage the roots to go and look for the water rather than giving them water ... They will be happy to not look any futher ... small roots = small plants :)

Im not sure about the drip thing ... but 15 minz 3 times a day could be excessive ... You might want to concider letting them run dry from time to time ....Others may be able to help with that though :)

On the whole... Looking good ... and your now well on your way :)

Are you using Nutes yet ?.. if so what ?... and how much ?

I agree with Vento

15mins 3times a day might be too much.

I use coco but i hand water and i am only watering with 2 litres once every 2-3days .

I have my 34inch tall plants in 11L atami pots and they are thriving now.

When they are young you want the plants to search out for water.
Let them dry out so that the roots go in search of it.

As said by vento if you dont allow it to dry out and make the roots search for their food then the roots will quite happily stay where there is water.

Always remember that the more roots you have the better yield you will get.

my thermometer is at the top of the canopy, i will move it down in a mo and get a reading at soil level and let you know.
ive just moved my drippers 2cm's from the edge of the pots and they also stick out of the soil about 20mm? i only done that as it looked like that in the pics of the instructions as they dont really tell you in them. Ive set the drippers to come on at 6am (start of light cycle) and 6pm for the evening cycle, buy i may change this to one if it still is damp to the touch.
im using coco canna feeds a and b at the moment and i will check when my ec meter comes if my measuring of water and nutes with the buckets and a mearsuring jug was accurate or not!
ill keep you posted on the results......

do you think just one feed aday at this stage then J?
as all im worried about is them not getting enough fluid and going droopy.

Like i said i have 34inch plants in 11L pots and i am only feeding them once every 2-3 days. Your little plants wont even need that.

Are your drippers 1L/1hr or 2L/1hr????

If they are 1litre and hour then i would run the drippers to fully saturate the medium then dont run them until they are dry and light in colour on the top of the medium.

i dont think you need a fancy set up to get a good crop, i personally only went this way to avoid detection as the tent and fans keep the heat detection well under control, infact yesterday the tent outlet fan was blowing out cold air by the time it got to the outlet in the roof which i was pleased about, because our local police force fly over every night checking with their thermo camera and i slept alot better knowing it was cold air by the time it passed through 17meters of ducting ;-)

i think they are 1l an hour but i will check but again theres no reference on the instructions or on the arrows, infact i wasnt even sure which was the flood ones and which was the drip ones at first. God i hope ive got the right ones in there lol

Like i said just make sure it fully saturates the medium and then dont water again until the top gets dry which you will easily notice as it goes very light in colour if you are using coco.

Once they start to put out more foliage and begin to grow at a rapid rate you could probably run your drippers for an hour a day or whatever the plants are crying out for.

You could get to a stage where they need running every 3hours. Just make sure you dont run on the night cycle as this could raise your RH too high.

One thing i will say is be carefull how much veg time you give them as there will not be enough space between all the plants when they start getting big.

As Far as i can gather ...It's not uncommon for new growers to be a bit freaked out at first ...Time and money invested and a will to do everything right can put a bit of pressure on ...Your doin good mate ... Just try and relax , The move from your other location to your tent was a big step and now your all ready .... Its all fine tuneing now ..and that will go on for a while ... Bit here bit there , As the days go on you will be more at home and you will start to see progress and begin to notice what your plants like and dont like ... But allways remember ... They are WEED'S ... they are hard ...Designed to withstand extreams ... Its only when we over do or under do something that they react in the wrong way ... Your doing everything right so far ... Just let them get over the shock of the move and let them adapt to the new enviroment and all will be good :)

Have a read of this ...it will make you feel a bit less stressed :)

... Oh ... and btw .... The Old Bill are NOT looking at you every time that chopper passes over :) ... I was even informed that they can't do it without a warrent without any susspicion of farming ...and even then its only on large scale stuff :)
