they only work if you don't have air exchange in your chamber. the active chemical needs to build up in the grow area to be effective. they do work... if you use them properly. i wouldn't use it late in flowering because the chemical is nasty but if you have mites late in flowering then there isn't much else you can do (besides vacuuming them off every day which is a PITA).
when i use them i'll turn off the exhaust fan in my flowering chamber for 8 hours a couple of times a day and that seems to do the trick. you can then put them in a ziplock until the next time you use it.
i bought some strips today. i just bomb my room and ill give it a few days and see what happens. if they come back ill put the strips up.I recently tried one out after a nasty thrip problem on my last grow. Before I started my current garden, I shut off all airflow to the room and placed a no pest strip in the center of it. Left for about a week, the room smelled strongly of insecticide. That was 6 weeks ago and I haven't seen so much as a fungus gnat in that room. I personally think they work very well, though I'm unsure of their effect on flowering plants.
