Noise issue

Build a sound dampening box that is insulated with dynamat or whatever you can get for noise. really easy and quick and only costs a few bucks

well it is an $80 dollar fan. after all the mods to make it quiet you will have spent the 150 for a good one

No offense but no matter how much you pay for a inline fan, it will still be loud. The bigger and better, the louder it is chances are. I have several sizes and types, they all make tons of noise Mr.Limpet.

my vortex is quieter than my cheesy htg fan i can say that from experience. i double wrap mine with duct insulation also. and fan speed controller is a must

The fan sits on top of the box caulked in....i can just build the fan sized box on top of it insulated with the Dynamat with the ducting running through the top of that box?

im gonna order a speed controller, but this other guy was telling me it will burn out my engine?

I built a DIY spray-foam insulated box for the fan and a muffler to quiet the exhausting air, it's about 30% of what it once was. Still loud (same CFM as yours) but not hardly! You can check out my "quiet box" here: https://www.rollitup.org/members/greengurl-252657.html

And if you search for "loud fan" or "quiet fan" you should find all sorts of DIY instructions for both ideas. Good luck!

One tip: the box does take up some real estate so be aware of that...

phresh also sells duct mufflers, and i just hooked mine up.. i hooked up the speed controller, and that cut the nose way down, than i hooked up the duct muffler and that helped out even more..
you can always use insulated duct works as well, or make a box like someone else has mentioed and you can use some of that egg cartoon foam stuff if you know what i mean to line the inside of the box with..

yeah i know what your saying about the egg carton foam...used that stuff in my boys studio to sound proof it

get a higher than needed cfm fan + fan controller set in on low or medium, makes it very silent, add some insulation, it will become noise free.

Hi everyone. Let's not forget that most of the noise actually reverb in the ducting. Using a good and insulated duct helps a lil'.

Peace, planta.
