nutes not newts

Hello all,

I am sure this questions has been asked and answered many times over but I will ask it again. I am into my third hydro grow (bubbler) and am still learning, my first went fairly well, my second got infested with red mites and was destroyed. I am now into my third flowering and am not really happy with my nutes. I am always guessing and never sure if I am doing it right. My plant is from bag seed. I suffer all the time trying to find out why my plant is suffering from one deficiency or another
I am using Botanicare Pro both Grow (veg) and Bloom (flower) I add a little Sweet and Cal-Mag, all in Mississippi River city water. I would like to try a different nutrient formula for the next set of clones I will put into veg and then flower. I will switch to an ebb & flow for this grow. I am thinking of GH flora series
What say you?

I think an ebb and flow will be a lot easier for you in a bubbler. You don't have to worry as much about water temps.

IMHO, pure blend pro is solid. You're probably having issues because you're running a bubbler in august.

If you are having newt problems with Botanicare, then I would start looking at your source water. What is your PPM coming out of the tap? Does your source water originate in a well, or does it originate in a river? Well water tends to have really weird exotic substances in it that can block uptake of trace elements.

My friend lives in a small town that has well water which comes out of the tap at 40 PPM, sounds great, but when he uses it he consistantly has some unknown nutrient disorder. I suggested he switch to rain (He lives on the Washington coast, rains constantly) which he did and the issues cleared up. I live in Western Washington and I use tap water, which is sourced in the cascade mountains. Mine comes out at about 30 - 50 PPM depending on time of year and I have never had any problems using it. Water source is everything.

I live near the ass-end of the Mississippi River my truncheon reads 200ppm or 0.4EC. When I started using RO water I was having trouble in flower. When i switched to tap I at least had a chance to harvest. My plant seems to always give the indication that it is suffering from Magnesium deficiency. But what do I know? Also some of my leaves in this grow just dry up, not many but just a few. One day they are just fine the next they are paper dry but still green?

botan pbp is one of the best available. i have used it for years. i say your problem is the guessing you say you do. do you have the proper tools for doing it? meters? i have a great recipe i have perfected and it is posted in my thread, my 3 stages of flower.

superstoner1
I try to keep the pH @ around 5.8 using my Eutech meter, the ppm @ 900, the water I start with is @ about 200ppm using my bluelab truncheon. My knowledge comes for reading and blind groping. I am off to try and find your post.

I found your thread, it will be almost 2 wks befor I can make the 140 mile round trip to the store. ( i will order somethings online but I try to keep a low profile if I can)
On hand I have
PB pro grow
bloom
Sweet
Cal-Mag
Liquid Karma
Clearex

General Organics Bio Weed processed seaweed 0.2-0-0.3

I also have Green Light Super Bloom 12-55-6 with 0.10% chelated iron, it is for soil and I have not used it @ all for anything. I seem to have no luck with plants of any kind and have not been able to grow MJ in soil.

superstoner1

Is this correct for the final feeding to use pbp bloom for soil?
super recipe for flower weeks 5-8(or til finished)(per gal of water, in ml)
pbp bloom for soil 10
lk 2
calmag 2
aquashield 3
sweet raw 8
silica blast 3
hydroplex 4
no great white

thanks for the help. will give it a go and will let you know! I am setting up my clones for another veg. and flower so I will give this a try with my next plant. I do
this for myself and only have need for one plant at a time

LMAO Mississippi River water! Man but seriously start back using RO water and get some Botanicare Cal-Mag if your having Magnesium problems. RO water is best because its usually 0 PPM that way you know everything that is going into your plants when you feed them. As long as you monitor PH daily and dont burn the shit outta your plants you should have no problems

Hey, what is wrong with the water from the Mighty Missisip it has every chemical substance modern man has manufactured and I drink and bath with it daily

I was using RO water at first but only with botanicare Pro Grow. It was only later that I found out that something was missing, but you are right I need to know from were I start.
I will be using superstoner1's recipe from here on out.

It would be interesting to know how much of your TDS are calcium ion, and how much sodium. Cannabis hates sodium. It can cause lockout that can cause what you describe.
As for magnesium, having some Epsom salt to hand would be great. Since the river water already has calcium (get your municipal water report; it'll tell you about the ions in question) you don't really need or want Cal-mag, just "Mag", and Epsom is an excellent way of supplying that. One gram per liter of Epsom is 100 ppm added magnesium ion.

By now, the brain freeze is ... almost pleasant ... cn

The pump ur using "for hydro" will deplete Cal/Mag. Hydro has far less forgiveness then soil and or coco.

Step back and find your balance.

knowing base ppm is soooooo important, in a hydro garden. What needs to be evaluated is base, trace, and micro nutrients. Nitrogen, potassium, and K/phosphorus, and calcium is also mobile within plants. If mobility of calcium is effected it will effect you base "NPK." It will especially cause problems with the mobilty of nitrogin.

As for the water quality report all I could find was the amount of contaminates or lack of specific ones, I use a little epsom salts when the leaves show they need them.
I will be switching to RO tomorrow and working from there.

Does anyone know if it is safe to use a little Greenlight superfood 12-55-6 in my hydro. I have not done so yet but?

Say I am flowering under t-5's now what is a good mix of lights to use. I can only use the 2ft long bulbs and I have 6 of them 4 3000k and 2 aquarium bulbs
I may be able to add 4 more bulbs, should I add more aquarium coral lights?
