I agree you have that portion that would rather watch honey boo boo than learn anything but the people watching the news actually believe what they say that’s truly disconcerting.
I think people generally watch whatever "flavor" of "news" they want to hear. I can envision Schuylaar screaming "LIARS" at the weather report on Fox News

Well schuylaar has already exposed herself of being a bigoted partisan hack so it really doesn’t matter what she screams.

You do realize that pole was probably conducted by the democrats. I order for the next candidate to look 'fresh' & represent 'change', they set this up to run down the incumbent to make the next guy look different. That's what caught up with Bush#1, he wasn't that bad, but nobody really wanted a 4th term of 'Reaganomics'...who cares what people think of Obama, he's a lame duck..disposable
This is all about setting up 2016.......

that's pretty funny coming from the guy who blames blacks for all the problems in the south and who clings to republican nuts with a fervor unseen anywhere else.

People in America are apathetic. If they were pissed off they would stop voting for the clowns that this two party system trots out, and demand meaningful change.

Voting for a new master will not lessen the enslavement if the number of potential masters voted on is increased.

It's like looking for the missing car keys in the living room, rather than the driveway where they were actually lost, because the living room is lighter and easier to see in.

INSTITUTIONAL tyranny???? Have to think on that one. I can see your point. Actually, there are probably several factors. We may be oversimplifying to make a nice little sound bite.

Institutional tyranny....like Slavery? Half of the U.S. fought to preserve their democratic right to tyranny, they failed.
I don't think there was ever a vote to enact or preserve slavery (I could be wrong). Slavery predates democracy by ten thousand years or so.

Succession was an act to preserve slavery(Articles of Confederation). They are not exclusive, tyranny and democracy. There were acts to abolish slavery that failed....

Yes, but was there ever an actual vote? My point was that slavery isn't the result of democracy, not that they can't co-exist. Slavery was the norm long before there was any form of government at all.

They elected a new president, drafted a constitution that preserved it. It was not illegal to own slaves in this confederacy so no vote was required.
